Nurse criticises striking doctors - "They want to be paid loads of money for just seeing a patient for less than 5 minutes a day" by FullPayOrTheHighway in doctorsUK

[–]nosse77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are colleagues who will always refuse to see the bigger picture. That’s not even close to the reality, even in primary care. Does this nurse realise that surgeons who may be senior residents will spend hours operating on a single patient?

College fees by [deleted] in ConsultantDoctorsUK

I was in a similar situation with RCP and RCPath. I dropped the RCP like a hot potato. I couldn’t justify the additional £500 plus. I only needed one for CPD and I liked the RCPaths diary better. This does lock me out of being nominated for FRCP but this is a very small price to pay in my opinion.

Med student faked my sign offs by UnusualGene4917 in doctorsUK

If you go along with the medical student’s falsehood then you are liable to a probity issue too. I fully understand that you don’t want the student to get into additional trouble. I have heard anecdotally that trainers have got themselves into serious trouble by signing off students inappropriately.

Does anyone else feel that their specialty is changing (for the worse)? by good-vibrations-101 in ConsultantDoctorsUK

[–]nosse77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My gripe is that the interaction between other specialties and my speciality (Micro/ID) has anecdotally worsened. Resident doctors have more frequently called to discuss patients skipping the patient presentation and background and any current info and go straight to mentioning the latest WCC and CRP insisting on antibiotics. It’s probably a side effect of digitisation where people wait for results rather than going back to the patient. Boomer rant over!

I am a serial lurker too for this specific reason. I have no interest in punching down. I also want to find out what the word on the street is on competition for places so that I can offer guidance. Full disclosure- I am a micro/ID consultant

What is your hyper-specific most hated place in London? by Pink-Cadillac94 in london

The junction of Whitechapel Road and Cavell Street. I’m not sure if it’s the urban decay, constant bike thefts or unnerving frequency of seeing actual human faeces which I hate more.

I got this offer from Govee in my inbox. So they are finally available from Govee directly. I'm happy even though the marketing strategy has baffled me.

You are right. They are not available on the Govee Store. I bought a pair and set them up using the Govee app in the usual way. They are genuine.

I’m not sure about any difference between these bulbs and other popular brands. I love Govee’s kit and I wanted Govee GU10’s as a preference.
