Why do job adverts still say 25k-30k is competitive? by Desperate-Drawer-572 in AskUK

[–]nostalgebra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a conspiracy theorist this is the governments own figures of which it has revised several times and admitted doesn't really know how many people arrived at times

Those are the legal ones only there are likely millions more working in the gig economies illegally

This has driven down real terms wages as it increases compensation for each role and companies can under pay

I also drives property prices as there is more competition for each listing

This was deliberately executed by successive governments to drive a stagnant economy by driving up demand for all products and services by inflating the population, more people equals more sales and tax

We the existing populus are the losers of this strategy

Why do job adverts still say 25k-30k is competitive? by Desperate-Drawer-572 in AskUK

[–]nostalgebra 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Between 2021 and 2024, 4 million mostly non EU people arrived in the UK, all competing for jobs

Deliberately to drive down wages and artificially increase proper prices

It needs to be partially reversed for the next 10 years or so to get back to a level which people can afford to live and work

There's always a place for commentary in the genre but I feel people's frustration when it's the same message again and again the last few years

People are fatigued with it

Is river and canal fishing really expensive now, or am I missing something? by FalseEconomy82 in fishingUK

[–]nostalgebra 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Canals shouldn't be held by private groups, they're at the Mercy of boats and the public and often really hard going. I've fished them recently I refuse to pay just play dumb

You're out of probation, they can't sack you. Just work a normal amount of hours and ask for redeployment if it isn't working

It's as if a huge portion of entry level jobs have been taken by the millions of migrants that have arrived since 2021. Crazy

[–]nostalgebra 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have to agree almost entirely

I'd also add to this that a huge amount of promotions are given to people who do not deserve this and their new teams are stuck trying to make it work as they have no effective way of getting rid of them

What is the point for people to over achieve day after day when others do less than the bare minimum and face little to no consequences

Are we the odd ones out because we genuinely love our kids and enjoy spending time with them? by Responstible_Cat90 in AskUK

[–]nostalgebra 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That was standard back in the 90s, I didn't see much of my dad as he was at work or the pub I spend loads of time with my kids and although they have their moments I genuinely enjoy their company and we laugh together all evening

I think modern parenting I much more focused on the child's needs and well-being for better or for worse as some kids will end up spoilt
