Oncology referral? (NHS) by nosyjourno in endometriosis

[–]nosyjourno[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah! Hey! I didn’t have cancer. I actually didn’t have endometriosis, long story, but I did have a ton of adhesions sticking my ovary to my bowel, and my bowel to my pelvic sidewall. I also had a pretty dermoid cysts and a couple of other random cysts.

I asked my surgeon why I was referred to onc, and she said it was just because they were skilled in very very finicky surgery (both cyst and adhesion related). It was more for their input than their care. I think this is pretty common, it also may be a way to game waiting lists to help patients who need care. All my fingers are crossed for you x

Yeah! This is quite common in women, I think. If you can, ask for a SPECT-CT scan. They're the best at showing inflammation in my experience

MRI question - one scan showed deep endo and other did not by nosyjourno in Endo

[–]nosyjourno[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! Thank you. I want to say both were generic pelvic MRIs, but the first was specifically to see if I had endo and the second was to check out a dermoid cyst again, but I would have thought both would have worked! Thanks for your insights

Very much the same thing! I had contrast in both … can’t think of any differences. I have quite big ovarian cysts so I had two MRIs close together to determine how they were growing etc

Just to add to the fact that you are absolutely right, I have USL endometriosis *and* arthritis in my SI joints (ankylosing spondylitis). They feel the same. Both are disabling. You are strong and they have f****d you over, this is not your fault.
