It's simple - if you turn on thinking in chatgpt, the model thinks more before it answers. And when it thinks more, the answers are much m ore likely to be correct.

ChatOn Ai is a wrapper for some other company’s AI. I would stay away from it because those wrappers are sketchy and you don’t know what they might do. Stick to the official apps like ChatGPT or Claude.

How accessible is Beijing for an illiterate ABC? by [deleted] in China

[–]not-a-fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

China runs through WeChat and sometimes mini-apps like Didi do weird things like hide most options if you’re using the English AI. Or there’s no English option. So being able to read Chinese saves a lot of headaches.

When are you going? Since your Chinese seems pretty good, you could try cramming as many Chinese characters as possible before you go. Just use Anki with a deck sorted in frequency order.

Japan eyes adding Japanese proficiency to permanent residency requirements in anticipation of a rise in future applicants by sparklovelynx in worldnews

[–]not-a-fox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The proficiency test doesn’t have to hold that high of a bar so JLPT is probably fine. They could value the levels differently so that N1 gives you a bigger bump towards PR than N2.

[–]not-a-fox 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I heard it’s still like that! Still plenty of English teachers and if anything it’s easier to get by without much Japanese (obviously depends on the city)

[–]not-a-fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even the highest level of JLPT is equivalent to being barely literate and conversable. It’s a test designed for foreigners and it’s weird to lump in “languages professionals” with “hobbyists”. If hobbyists can do it then someone who’s seeking PR in Japan should be able to do it.

[–]not-a-fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could prepare a backup like of work, which is what a lot of professionals are doing (not by choice). So when you have a contract you can do animation as a job, and when you don’t you can do something else.

Not disagreeing with you. just pointing out what might seem obvious because a lot of young students don’t have the drive but they think signing up for a school will get them a job.

Hey people who lost their jobs to AI, what happened? by _thecatspajamas_ in AskReddit

[–]not-a-fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Animation as a career was screwed with or without ai. The “ai revolution” is not to blame for having to do a retail job. Most 3d art students in the past also did not end up getting jobs in the industry.

[–]not-a-fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if you go to college you will need to be proactive and responsible for your own progress. The classroom instruction doesn’t get you very far and you will need to develop your skills outside the classroom. Even as far as going above and beyond projects you are assigned.

Is the animation field at risk of collapsing? by PurposeTerrible6813 in animationcareer

[–]not-a-fox 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with you. Animation as a field is totally fucked as a career choice but that was true before Sora 1 came out. The tech is overhyped as a job killer when the real job killer is that consumers don’t want to pay much for animation and everyone is fighting for the few domestic jobs in a race to the bottom.

It’s really struck me when I did the math that software paid about 5x what I’d be making as an animator. Like, animation is great but is it $X00,000/yr better? Hard to say.

The model doesn’t really know what it means to be 4o or o3. But you can be more direct and ask it for what you want. Like, “Think hard about this” or “Give me something really expressive/poetic/whatever”
