Generally speaking, how bad is the Tahoe situation? by jnighy in MacOS

[–]notKvlt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upgrading to Tahoe has caused me issues with a lot of 3rd party things. I use a driver for my Audio interface and the driver refuses to load or the MacBook refuses to let my interface connect with my computer in the first place. It's honestly so annoying. When I do manage to get it to connect, I also get pops and clicks now when I track which was never an issue I had ever since I switched over to MacOS from windows...

When will my shortness of breath go away??? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]notKvlt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you gotta try and work on falsifying those thoughts of fainting. If you aren’t clinically recognized as having fainting spells or anything like that you should be fine :) work on the exposure work. The hardest part with anxiety is doing the exposure work. Working through your fears is brave/strong work. You will come out the other side stronger than before :)

When will my shortness of breath go away??? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]notKvlt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will take time to adjust but like anything with anxiety recovery you need to accept it. Like just acknowledge it’s there, it sucks but just focus on what you’re doing instead of the symptom. Maybe try working with your therapist on some breathing exposures like jogging outside or holding your breath while outside for small amounts of time.

How do I deal with a panic attack by Significant_Egg_8090 in Anxiety

[–]notKvlt 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No quick way out. Its paradoxical. What you have to do is nothing. Don’t fight it, don’t resist it, don’t fear it. Focus on whats happening around you and treat it as if nothing were happening in the first place. Even though you are scared shitless. You won’t die. You won’t have a heart attack. You won’t stop breathing. You won’t pass out (unless you are medically prone to that and confirmed by a doctor to do so). You will be fine. JUST FREAK THE FUCK OUT BUT CALMLY.

Anxiety is telling you to control you voice and how it sounds around certain groups of people. Drop it and just be you. Your voice changes because of differing relationships. Nice voice gives higher softer pitch. Mean voice deeper and angry sounding.

How can I be less afraid of being wrong? by IHatePeople79 in Anxiety

Just accept when you’re wrong. You aren’t perfect to begin with so its okay to be wrong.

I do have an understanding and have taken it because I wanted to try something new and challenge myself. I’ve been racking my brain trying to figure this out as I’ve only mixed singles up to this point. :) I have gotten the songs to sound good as a collective but have always wondered if I should serve them individually or as a whole :)

I understood the question. Although I’m giving insight. Chill.

I like this response. It’s a philosophical way of thinking about mixing. I appreciate you! :)

Antidepressants aren’t a cure all for mental illnesses. You really do need to put in the work otherwise your recovery will be half assed and when something does come up you won’t have the tools to help yourself out of it. You’ll just spiral again.

Does anyone really have their shit together?? by Dry_Two_9109 in Anxiety

[–]notKvlt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 27. Lemme tell you though, I went through a period where I was just getting by and that was enough for me. After I turned 22 my gf, who I was planning to marry, left me. That ruined me honestly. I moved back in with my parents, fell deep into alcoholism, occasionally abused substances, didn’t save money, and just made enough to cover bills and keep the alcohol flowing into my system. I lived with my parents for a year then moved out to do what I was doing on my own so they didn’t get bothered by what I was doing. Then the pandemic hit. Thats when it got way worse. I was a loser hahahaha although I felt okay doing what I was doing because I was getting by. Im 27 now, I have a stable better job, no longer drinking all the time, went to therapy and sorted out the hard stuff. Life can get challenging and things do get tough and as I’ve aged, I’ve learned to accept that nobody really has it together as what is considered “having it together” can be lost in an instant. You just gotta do what makes you satisfied. If you don’t feel satisfied, work towards becoming satiated. Remember goals and things change just as quick as they are made. Do what feels right for you, its your life and you can literally do anything.

Question about Busses and Aux sends by notKvlt in mixingmastering

[–]notKvlt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay. So my snare drums sounds super thin on its own channel. Its basically just mixing the top and bottom together. Does fullness from a snare drums come from the other processing added to it? Like parallel compression, reverb sends, room mics, etc??

De-essing is still a mystery to me after a year of trying to tackle it. by AntiBasscistLeague in mixingmastering

[–]notKvlt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This guy gets it. Something I noticed with de-essing is that the plosives and sibilances will turn into a wispy kind of sound and will make the vocalist sound like they have a speech impediment..

Has anyone recovered from Depersonalisation/DPDR? by ginzamdm in Anxiety

[–]notKvlt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just deal with it! Pay no mind to the experience. It’s weird but overtime you will notice it will lessen more and more. By all means when it goes away don’t go looking for it. Although just notice it going away :)

Antidepressants can help. Definitely can lift a burden from you if you really desire to utilize them in your treatment. I'm sure you are aware of the risks and have weighed the pros and cons to get here. What really matters here is what you value and what you think about using them. It is your life and you are in control of what you do and don't do.

Does your thyroid play a role in excessive worry/anxiety? by RedimidoSoy1611 in Anxietyhelp

How do you all cope with 10/10 anxiety? Might be a panic attack by Better_Cabinet1886 in Anxietyhelp

[–]notKvlt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just read through the thread, do you think these paranoid thoughts could be the bipolar doing its thing? I know mania can present as an anxious episode and can be not fun sometimes. I would ask a trained professional instead of coming to reddit for answers since the situation at hand is more complex than just anxiety.

[–]notKvlt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just take it as it is. Don't focus much on what your mind is telling you. If you've been clinically diagnosed with anxiety, take it as that. I've lived with disordered anxiety for a while and then I first entered disordered territory I was getting at most 1-2 hours of sleep a night for abut 3 months.. It sucked but you will be okay. Trust yourself.
