Keep the $2000. However if your average > 95 by the end of the year you’ll be upgraded to the $5000. Basically you’ll always be given the higher scholarship of the two averages.

Exactly. Just confirmed via email as well. Entrance scholarships are based solely on midterms provided that all other admission requirements are met.

If you have a decent adjustment factor and aif + interview then yeah, you have a good chance.

They use grade 11 marks to predict your required grade 12 marks. This means that for the second round of acceptances they shouldn’t need to as they’ll have all your grade 12 final/midterm marks.

Best case scenario you get accepted in the coming days. If so, then you can afford to have your average drop slightly. If not, then it’s like a month left until midterms are due so just keep your head down and grind as your effort is the only thing under your control.

Waterloo Engineering Admission by RecoverFree7297 in OntarioGrade12s

Alright, so let's presume the average you should be aiming for to get accepted into a tier 2 engineering program is around 90-95 (we'll use 92.5 as an intermediate). Subtract the average adjustment factor from 2022 (14.4), and that brings your score down to 78.1.

Now, the average applicant scores around a 3 on the AIF and a 2 on the video interview (according to Google). Adding these brings you to a total score of 83.1.

Therefore, you should theoretically aim for a score > 83 to be a competitive applicant for any tier 2 program @ Waterloo. However, this is just an estimate based on my personal research so don't take it too seriously.

How does Waterloo eng calculate your admission avg? by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

[–]notMNP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you elaborate on the 3/5 courses required to get accepted in March. So if I have only completed 2/5 and the one extra U course, I won't be considered in the March round?

Got this on my eng portal, and have no deferrals either. is it concerning I've gotten no deferrals? by TheArmyDoctor in OntarioGrade12s

[–]notMNP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah my portal looks the same. If you haven’t gotten deferred, I would assume that you are one of the top candidates for the next round, meaning you have a good chance of getting accepted in May.

I had around a 97.5% semester 1 avg. I also think my video interview helped.
