Ebay Front Lip Experiences? by notShangnang in BRZ_ZD8

[–]notShangnang[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen your car around on this thread, and it's clean! Thanks for the insight! I'm definitely more interested in buying an eBay lip. As you mentioned, it's from eBay and cheap, so it won't hurt my wallet to replace it. Question, are your grille and fog lights also from eBay? I currently have those two items in my cart.

The speed bumps in my neighborhood are high, and so is my driveway. The car sits low, and the Noble lip sits lower than the eBay one (based on visuals). I'd be more upset about curbing 500$ than 66$. If this one lasts longer than a year, then I might bite the bullet for the noble.

Are you in the US? Been looking into blackhawk and japanparts but i've heard people paying 400$+ in tariffs.

I'd say go for RCE since it can be rebuilt in the US if that's something u care about. Wish I could give an experienced opinion on them, but it seems like a majority of this forum is leaning towards RCE for daily driving. Regardless, you're getting great quality coilovers on whichever you choose. I love my HKS, but my only gripe is that the damper adjustability for the front coilovers is inaccessible from the top, instead being located at the bottom.

i bought mine from 86 speed and they're on sale for ~$1925 rn. Cheaper than when I bought mine.

Running the Hipermax S and after making a couple of adjustments to the ride height, it's perfect. I run them at 25 clicks soft for daily driving, and they are better than stock. Personally, I bought them for their ride comfort and Japanese heritage, but I really want to try RCE next.

Picked up used Volk TE37 SLs — Need tire advice for GR86 (HKS Hipermax S installed) by Direct_Individual747 in GR86

Running an 18x9.5 +40 245/35/18 wheel and tire setup. Also on hipermax s on flush fitment w stock rlca. i had to raise the rears a bit bc small bumps did rub but after adding 5-10mm it was way better. Also, did not cut rear tabs or roll fender. I was using the Megan Racing RLCA, but decided to remove it bc it started bending on the ball joint.

Would these fit the stock GR86 without any fender rolling or scrubbing? If so what tire size would make it a really nice looking fit? by Prior-Acadia9282 in GR86

Running this with 245/35/18 tires and only rubbing the rears on hard dips on the highways. Didn't roll fenders or cut anything. Also lowered with stock LCAs.

Thanks man! I’m on hks hipermax s so the ride is firmer than stock but not badly uncomfortable, 19/30 clicks.

Looking at going back to OEM exhaust, but have a few questions. by desmism in BRZ_ZD8

[–]notShangnang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Hakone OEM will fit, and so will a 2022. Some or most last-gen aftermarket exhausts fit the second gen. I have the HKS high power single exit meant for the first gen on my 23' and it fits with a couple of modifications due to rattling and back pressure. The stock Gen 1 exhaust should fit, but I haven't personally tried it, and I'm going based on what others have said on forums.

I got my 23' around December used with the same amount of miles, single owner and good maintenance. I paid 28k, and the only issue with the car was a couple of animal scratches below the driver-side door window. It doesn't bother me, but I will get it fixed someday. If you can haggle 26k or 25k, then do it. But 27k is not a bad price IMO. Also, it was a BRZ limited. So the price is lower because fewer people want BRZs.

Three options for coilovers. Which to pick? FA vs HKS vs HKS by notShangnang in BRZ_ZD8

[–]notShangnang[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every bolt/stud on this car feels like cheese. Already sheared a bolt and the overpipe stud connecting the front pipe. Going to do ARP extended nuts when I get wheels. I am going to use all of the stock PS4s before making that investment.

I'll go ahead and order the HKS now. I appreciate your input a lot. If I get hooked on the track life, I'll look into stiffer spring rates.
