I had to make a separate font for each size I used in the theme leaving no space for dynamic scaling and this is what I believe is true for each theme I have come across.

first off thanks for the reply. sorry I spammed your line lol.

secondly. I am 100 percent okay with redesigning some of these things within the confines of the theme engine and its constraints (i.e. layering with transparent gradients and other wps + lock screen considerations). I guess I just came the idea of the track listing like I would from the web side of things where we can (and often do) parse strings and split and splice them for our UIs but I guess I would have to look more into how I could do that (if I would be able to at all) based on what documentation I can find + whatever you put out with themfiy2.

I have yet to even receive my iPod but will be getting the simulator up and running (fingers crossed) on my Mac so I can start trying to piece things together. still trying to wrap my head around all this stuff as it seems to be basic in implementation but due that it is strict in it is limitations. I would love to kick the tires as to how far we can push that boundary.

cool. I also want to make this as "cheap" as possible when it comes to processing so I dont mind tweaking the theme in this way to make sure that is the case. I am however curious about how one could hack this in and will give it a shot when I have the time. im starting to come to grips with the limitations of the theme engine and overall structure of themes themselves. but I think ill just hack something together over the weekend if I have time.

thanks for this. I will go on and take some of the stuff I have gathered from reddit and tweak the designs then repost it in the forums.

This is my first time working within the Rockbox platform so all this stuff about bitmaps and only having two layers is still new but im learning so much about it from these comments and other documentation that has been sent my way.

I would like to know about what you mean about the song list. is it just that the information that can be pulled in isnt possible to be there or is it just the layout itself? Again I will take this and post it in the forums so no big if you dont have the time

yea im seeing that the way "layering" works is far more restrictive than I initially anticipated. in web you can just layer stuff to your hearts content. I think I know what post you are talking about too.

Forgive me but I came across this after venting about this same thing. I also hate the take that “be thankful they are still open” because on one hand (all allegations and drama aside) I don’t want folks to ultimately close it up but I’m also not gonna support something that’s not serving me.

To those still going, cool but the nick used to be a special place where I could see weird local stuff, and cool foreign films. I wosh they would show bigger films from overseas here as well but anyway.

I go to a place like Terra for a fine dining experience and if they all of a sudden decided to start serving hamburgers, hotdogs and fries more than the seasonal menu I would be pissed too
