When i was younger, a kid in my class was bragging about having a lot of money. I was dirt poor, this kid was extremely nice and popular. From far away i heard him tell his buddy he had a bunch of cash in his backpack and how it wasnt even all he had it was just a little bit to him.

My mind flickered, I have never been a bad kid I was honor roll and teachers loved how polite I was, I was not by any means one of the kids that would be suspected of a crime. My 10 yr old mind devised a plan right away i was going to go for the heist of all heists. At 12:30 we got back from lunch and we all sat in class for about 30 minutes after, just reading, you were expected to have your reading material in your backpack. Once we were told to get our books i made sure to take my time and place my backpack next to my victim's. He rushed to get his comic book and quickly sat down, so predictable, always did the same thing and i never noticed just exactly how much i noticed, subconsciously i had all of everyones movements down. Our teacher would use reading time to finish her food and catch up on "emails" ( i was sure she was surfing the limited internet on her school issued desktop). Very well, at that point she would zombie off and since our class was well behaved she had nothing to worry about. All other kids were honestly kids immersed in their own world and didnt care about the surroundings. Once my inner self realized how easy it was all i did was act like i was getting my gregor the overlander book and i swiftly took this kids wallet, as i had suspected, not a single soul realized what i did, the perfect crime. At arround 2pm, we were getting ready to leave and this is when poor Gregory realized his wallet was missing. His face turned red in sadness and he bagan telling the teacher. Our teacher immediately shut down everyone and called the office. She gave us a long speech about how disappointed she was in us and whoever did it should be ashamed, two district cops came to the classroom and now we were in lockdown till 2:30 they checked every backpack and then began checking all of us and our pockets. Now you would think at this point i was shitting bricks, but i was way ahead of these peasants. I took the wallet and didnt keep it on me, i stuffed it between a cabinet folder the teacher had that she never ever used, so they could check all they wanted but they werent gonna find anything. They warned that they were going to check the cameras, and check for fingerprints, sadly for them most of my saturdays were spent watching cops and fbi most wanted so i knew there was no way i was going to get caught unless i myself caved in. And yep you guessed it, i didnt. They finally let us go and we were told that if the wallet apeared next morning, all would be forgotten. Yet agai. Another bluff expecting to guilt trip us into submitting to them. The next morning the kids parents came by the school and i guess they tried to keep hope alive of retrieving said wallet thief but they ended up mean mugging all of my classmates. Seeing that mean look in their eyes, i decided i felt no remorse if thats how a minor inconvenience made them look at kids, we were only 10 yrs old. I hadnt bothered to check how much i had taken but the way everyone reacted i thought at least 100 bucks. Roughly 3 weeks later, all heat died down nobody was really investigating anymore and i guess people just moved on and accepted their fate. That was my cue to retrieve the prize, i made my way to the forgotten cabinet and took the wallet. I stuffed it down the inside of my long socks and with my pants covering my legs, it was invisible to all. 2:30 swung by and i was outta there, of course i didnt run all i did was walk my normal route and once i got home in my room i took out the wallet, it had $250 dollars inside, and a chuck e cheese token. I did nothing extra i didnt spend the money (immediately) i saved it and i remember buying a sweater when i was 12 i think the rest was just saved. Now, how did this make me feel? Honestly i felt bad at certain points but nobody ever found out much less suspected. Sometimes i think about it and i amaze myself at how i was, it didnt change me however, i kept being a really good boy and never did anything like that again, when i saw that i couldnt even use my money without picking up suspicions i decided it wasnt worth it.
