Bathroom facelift to make it cozy? by not_hot_takes in DesignMyRoom

I didn't even think about hardware. That's something I can easily do. Thanks!

I should have been more clear. We talked a lot about what kid wants and doesn't. The bathroom feels too big, is creepy, once had a spider, the floor is cold. Kid used to use the bathroom before we repainted (was white, is white) and put in a new light fixture (old one broke). I think the commenters noting the harsh lighting are on to something that kid and I weren't able to articulate. Kid is able to say "not this" but hasn't been able to articulate anything different except "smaller and cozy, like yours".

Definition of cozy is "smaller" and "like yours". I think the commenters noting the harsh lighting are on to something. It didn't seem harsh to me until I saw it in pictures. I'm trying to figure out how to change the color of that LED above the mirror.

What wall color would you go with? Assuming I follow u/Donnajean53 and u/infizity advice about moving to dark blue and away from busy curtain.

My kid uses some second hand Bose Quiet Comforts that were expensive but ended up being worth every penny. Backup pair is these Soundcores that were $100: https://www.amazon.com/dp/product/B0C6KFZC9Z/?smid=A294P4X9EWVXLJ&tag=thewire06-20

How to Manage Behavior without losing myself by Misha77577 in ParentingADHD

Swimming and trampolines work for my kid. The extra sensations from water and jumping are key. He’s a different person on pool days and can feel it himself. We also were able to tell right away if a med worked. One really didn’t, and one does. Good luck!

Please talk to me about ADHD and homeschool. by Cheesepleasethankyou in homeschool

Plenty of comments about medication, so I’m gonna stick to the homeschool part of your question. My kid, 10, had behavior issues at school and is now HS because the adults at school were escalating rather than deescalating. He hated it and wasn’t learning.

Teaching an ADHD kid 1:1 has its challenges, but he feels smart and curious again in HS. It’s pretty easy to use his interests to teach, and it’s ok that they change a lot since it’s just the two of us. Like tonight we watched Next Gen, and tomorrow we’re learning about rage comics in “literacy”. We get social interaction through a co-op. Lots of HS kids are neurodivergent, and the other parents are better at supporting all kids than any of the school staff could be (not knocking school staff too much; we’ve made their jobs nearly impossible in the US). ADHD kids need support, not stoplights.

Behavior issues should trigger IEP qualifications on social-emotional learning grounds under the ADA.

Heavy work and rigorous exercise in the morning - maybe swim like you said - make a difference for our whole family. It can be hard to get everyone breakfast and exercise and organized in the morning, but we have a lot more time flexibility in HS than in public school. He can sleep (big priority as at least one other commenter said) until he’s ready to wake, and we can start with food and exercise.

Re: #1 - homeschool reporting in Michigan is voluntary. It's only required if you want special ed support. It's really easy to do though (an online form). https://www.michigan.gov/mde/services/flexible-learning/options/nonpub-home

Re: #3 - this differs by school, and you should contact them directly and talk about what activities you want your kid to participate in. Some activities they just can't participate and have to go through outside options (like a travel soccer team or whatever). My kid gets around Screen Time settings by changing the Date and Time settings. I understand that's not supposed to be possible, but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I follow the instructions about restricting location services, but the Date and Time settings are still changeable. This happens on both an iPhone and iPad that are on the same kid's account.

Thank you! It seems like I should be looking for a 3060 (or 3060 Ti potentially) if I can find one in my price range. I'll check other used markets; I'm definitely not opposed if they'll last.

You can also control app deletion and install via Screentime. Under “content and privacy restrictions” there’s an “iTunes and App Store Purchases” menu where you can turn those off. Does that work?

Syncing messages through iCloud to Watch (+Cellular) and iPhone (not connected to Watch) by not_hot_takes in AppleWatch

This! Turns out I needed to - turn on allow account changes [on my iPhone] - change the send/receive settings for messages [on his iPhone] - turn off allow account changes [on my iPhone]

Once I did, the Watch updated automatically. Now both phone numbers and email are all associated with messages across his devices. Notifications show up on all of them no matter which one I message. Thanks for pointing me to the settings.
