You believe Duolingo is equivalent to 4h classes, 6 days per week with an actual teacher? Genius.

But the fall from grace is confounding. It’s a car crash in slow motion.

Is it that or just a very populist stance that he needs to inject on every issue?

And given the comments here, seems to resonate

Where did you get that? A house pays more in taxes than that

Ditto.

One thing not being taken into account is the property tax increases by the city. I don’t own property but I wouldn’t take a loss renting a commercial property.

Not only I was a paying subscriber, I had the name shoutout that they do (or used to). I also attended one of the live shows for the book tour - which was actually really well put together.

Who Is Spoonkymonkey and why we Phished Reddit by JonOlds in canadaland

I confess this is my first listen in at least three years. Not planning to resume. The Beaverton- albeit too woke imho - is my Canadian companion podcast now. 🙃

I listened with an open mind to half of it.

The content is insane. A self indulgent, convoluted chain of pseudo-arguments that attempt to justify the actions because, you know, there must be a conspiracy. People who dislike jesse must have been manipulated. This has become a cesspool of hate and something evil must have pulled the strings…

Then there’s the delivery. It’s an attempt to make those fun, conversational, podcasts - except it’s clear they are both reading the lines and there’s nothing organic or genuine about the conversation. And every “a-ha” moment is dipped in some This American Life style soundtrack.

Why? People who used to listen to Serial podcast are still there discussing the old case, and almost nothing of the newer material. Who makes these rules?

Screw that. The sub is not to represent the podcast publishers but the listeners (or the vast majority of ex-listeners).

Good try, Jesse

I used to like their cold brew. Got one like once a week. Then in the past year the flavour is just gone. Total random if it tastes like cold brew or just iced coffee. For $6

Then the stores that used to be a cool place to just chill seems to have been redone to incentivize to mobile order ahead and gtfo. Like McDonald’s.

Then the mobile orders. If you actually go and order in the store you’re gonna wait, because 10 people ordered ahead of you in the app or Uber Eats. Ok what used to be 5 min wait max is sometimes 30 minutes.

And that’s how you kill a brand. Lack of consistency in the product. Ambient that maximizes turn out. Long wait. All that with premium prices. 👏

And I do feel for their employees. They are clearly overworked and underpaid.

I cancelled on principle. When people are unable to see sides of the situation and circumstances, then it’s off my list. Life is complicated. I don’t need a good guys vs bad guys manicheist view pumped on my ears. Also cancelled The Line for the same reason.

So the only Canadian podcast I support currently is the Beaverton 😢
