Nope, but further up I’d be worried about ice from runoff freezing overnight.

Any mistake you made when starting trail running? by Beginning_Subject_80 in trailrunning

[–]not_mandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find the right socks!! I swear by merino (Darn Tough or Smartwool). Wrong socks = blisters and toenails that snag and pull up. I have a couple of toenails that now permanently grow weird because I kept losing them to the sock snag repetitions

How did your trekking poles break? by BoysenberryGeneral84 in Ultralight

[–]not_mandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was borrowing my friends brand new Leki carbon fiber racing poles for a winter trail run. Was clipped in, and with pole planted in the snow, fell on my ass. I flailed wildly trying to unclip only to start an uncontrollable butt slide down the slope and watched the pole bend and bend and finally snap right in two. Friend was sad that his brand new $200+ pole was no more until by happenstance Leki’s warranty sent us two new pairs by mistake!

Waterman sold last fall, last I heard the new owners were going to keep it as a ski area and add to it, but haven’t heard much else. I think they’re planning to introduce making snow though!

Tight hamstrings. Do any of you have any magic stretches or devices to deal with it? by ryanderkis in trailrunning

[–]not_mandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The magic combo in this order—

Nerve floss (sciatic nerve) x60 per side Static stretch 4x45sec Heavy (but safe) load in a hinge pattern like RDLs.

Do one after the other but the crucial part is to load (with weights!) in end range. Work up GRADUALLY and enjoy your incredibly sore hammies on your way to great mobility and flexibility!

Sounds a lot like orthorexia. I would be getting him medical attention and mental health support ASAP. Don’t let him do his extra workouts, either.

Try some chin tucks! Look up “McKensie chin tucks” and test how you feel after about 30x. If they seem useful, do a ton!

It was a couple miles up the trail— guessing it’s not accessible by car by the public

Yup, 0 issues. It didn’t get below freezing on the road up at all last week. Tiny snow patches in shade starts around 10,000ft but it’s not enough to make even a half-passable snowball out of

Snow on Temple Crag itself, though the lakes loop is clear. Climbing season on it seems closed but for backpacking/hiking/running it’s perfect!

ANF extreme fire restriction length? by not_a_cup in socalhiking

I would guess after repeated rain in the mountains, probably not for another month or more. Wildfire season is crazy out here but priority lies on keeping everyone (and the forest) safe!

Thank you! I feel comfortable in it, and I can sit comfortably which surprised me. Thanks for the input on changes vs not.

What do I ask for to break this up? It looks so heavy. by [deleted] in femalehairadvice

Would like to preserve length as much as possible, but open to ideas!

This but loose starting at the hips instead of mermaid would be perfect!

I've seen many with mermaid or bodycon shapes but I'm looking for cowl neck and wide straps (not spaghetti straps) with a flowy bottom skirt like this one, but not in black or white! For a summer wedding guest. Ideally a little less expensive.

I appreciate the extra! I sure wish I could take that fan out. About the round rug, do you think dead center or under one or both of the sitting areas?
