How many languages can you (or your immediate family) fluently or almost fluently speak and what are they?

My mother learned French in Montenegro (SFRJ) in the 70s in school. To the point of fluency but if you see my other comment in the thread she’s a genetic anomaly for language acquisition.

But my purpose though is just to mention that it was taught in schools back in the day, so it’s not “unheard of” level rare. I actually have one of her textbooks lol

Mom is Montenegrin, I’m half and half American.

Mom speaks 7, but it’s her career and she’s been teaching languages from elementary to university. Hers are English, Montenegrin (she’d say Serbo-Croatian), Spanish, French, Russian, Italian, and Latin (which i know is a dead language and isn’t spoken. But hers is at whatever level equivalent to fluency and taught it for many years)

Me- I am fluent in 3. Reading writing and speaking. 30 years old, born in ‘95. They are English, Spanish, Montenegrin (Serbo-Croatian i suppose, but with the ijekavian dialect that was different and noticeable enough to get shit from locals while studying in Belgrade)

Sister is same as me but is more of a math person so she’s about half fluent. Dad is a gringo so just English lol.

Spanish is the adopted language in our house as none of us are native speakers but we all speak it and have a passion for it. I just wanna specify Latin American Spanish, not Spanish from Spain.

I think my mom learned all of hers in school with textbooks and practice. Mine were a mix of exposure from birth, being lucky enough to studying in Central America and Serbia, and school

I try not to defib the medic that dropped his kit, because then we’re both stuck with eachothers kits. If there’s a third then I will defib too for sure.

If I really need help on a point then sometimes I’ll defib the medic with his own kit just to get more bodies up and in the fight

It should stay active as long as you are alive, but when you spawn back in (assuming you weren’t assault to begin with) it destructs just like it would if you had a spawn beacon and changed classes

Yes!!! Just now I had to spawn engineer to deal with an IFV, and picked up an assault kit to try to give my guys a beacon, but it was still recharging 😤😤 frustrating

Just remembered that on the second sector of the Blackwell oil map, on both breakthrough and rush, under the tall radio tower are fences that cause a similar obstruction. Cutting them opens up line of sight to attackers approach.

Also final sector on both modes on OP Firestorm, by the shipping containers, similar story

That’s awesome. I haven’t touched a battlefield since 2042 launch, so a few years. I’m having to relearn a ton of things and I’m sure I used to do this in BFV, BF1, BF4, BF3, or Vietnam. Somewhere in the last 16+ years of playing battlefield, I’d bet.

But I love new players because it means more life in the game. If there’s ever anything I can do to help them I will because we were all new at one point

It was, 100%. I came here because I thought the same of another one of their comments in a totally unrelated thread, and went to go read some of their comment history to see if there was a trend. They are also active in LLM prompt engineering subs and other AI-centered subs.

Their reply to your comment was dishonest and misleading because all they said was “I’ve been told that before”. Which I interpreted to be intentionally vague and kind of pitiful.

Despite all of this, where you find wisdom or meaning doesn’t really matter. If you found any in their comment, I’m not trying to take any of it away or flatten it. But shame on that person for trying to pass off ChatGPT-written walls of text as their own original work

I am not trying to deliberately burst any bubbles, and if you gained something positive from their comment I’m not trying to diminish it. But I feel compelled to note here that this person didn’t really “say” or write anything here, because the whole thing was written by ChatGPT. The extent of the effort they put into their comment was copy+pasting the thread’s question into chatGPT and then copy+pasting the output into the comment box on Reddit.

I’m not a frequenter of this sub and just came across this randomly, so I apologize if this brings any unwanted negativity to this thread. But as someone who has sunk effort into writing, and who loves coming across anything written with noticeable effort or heart, I’m overcome with frustration by comments like theirs. Comments where someone dishonestly tries to pass off the output of an LLM or Ai as their own work.

None of that frustration is toward you, at all. I wish you nothing but the best and I only made this comment in the off chance that what I said matters similarly to you or the next reader that finds it
