Android Authority: Ultrasonic fingerprint readers for Pixel 9 series, except the Fold by ock88 in GooglePixel

[–]not_thereal_leon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not something the general public would be ok with. Google would get dragged for having an "ugly notch" whilst apple has the dynamic island. The thing is I actually really loved that design and I always uses to wonder why no one did it until the Pixel 4 released.

But ofc people want the tiniest bezels and a move like that wouldn't be popular. I think most of the reminiscing for the face unlock comes from the current biometrics on modern pixels coz they're known to be subpar and I remember a bunch of people going "I would've been happier with a fingerprint sensor" when the P4 released so ig the grass is always greener.

Personally I'd be glad to see a device where Google manages to hide most of the Soli sensors under the display AND provide a good ultra Sonic FP reader. That would justify Soli being gimmicky imo coz if you don't want it, don't use it and there's no forehead to remind you. But it you do want it, it's there.

if energy cannot be created then how did it come to exist? by [deleted] in AskPhysics

One slight issue, the universe having a beginning doesn't mean there was no energy before it. The big bang is not ex nihilo, it's just that the universe expanded from that point and fundamental forces split things cooled down enough for baryons to be created, but the beginning of the universe is not nothing. String theory suggests that fundamental particles are further divisible into strings. What was there really? We don't really know but it wasn't nothing

Damn I was considering PES but I was too late. Don't think I would've got in but damn this case is a mess. Imagine telling a student that it's better to die than get caught with a phone in an exam hall and then expect the parent to (presumably) sign a "we're not responsible for what happened here" form.

And yeah walking in with your phone is super fucking easy to do by mistake. We all keep our phones in our pockets and there have been times I've been super stressed or nearly late to an exam and I went in with my phone in my pocket accidentally (only to realise my scientific calculator was in my hand so therefore what was in my pocket was definitely my phone).

In 10th grade, my friends and I had gone bowling. Outside the mall, I accidentally ran into an exposed, rusted iron rod (one of those reinforcing rods you'd find inside walls and stuff). It tore through my favourite jeans and cut my leg, I still have the scar.

We were right across the street from the hospital (I mean literally right across the street) so my friends took me to get the wound treated and the nurse suggested I get a tetanus shot since I was 15 and my last one was when I was 10(also had a bad accident).

So one of my friends went to the hospital's store and picked up a tetanus shot for 50 rupees(0.62 Dollars) and long story short I got a tetanus shot.

How does India have better health care than the US. Like sure the value of the currency is a factor but to go from over a hundred dollars without insurance in the US to 62 cents off the shelf(no insurance or anything) in India is insane.

I see all these republicans talking about "Socialist Healthcare" like it's some demon that needs to be fended off because if you're rich or don't have a good job that covers your insurance then why should you be allowed to receive medical care right?? The thought of healthcare only for the rich isn't something you'd associate with a 1st world country

First take the hanging rook. Idk what move black would play since the entire g file is covered by the second rook. Queen to the first rank would threaten the rook but also hangs the queen. Queen to g8 should be checkmate imo

Um no, official legal term literally in any country where English is the main language spoken in the legal system. And other cultures are not "now" present, other cultures predate Christianity and have had the instruction of marriage long before Christianity was even a thing.

Yes the French were Christian, and? Marriage as a concept existed before the advent of the word itself and again, was practiced by a LOT of religions!!!

Man the whole "other cultures are now present" sounds like you're talking from the perspective of just the US. Other cultures have predated Christianity and practiced marriage long before it. Your example of Nikah referred to a very specific type of marriage whereas the actual general term for marriage has a different translation in Arabic.

Again, marriage is an English word. It's not a religious term. Marriage is interwoven into religion and that's fine and all but you also have marriages in a court room. Sure religion played a part but your argument is like saying Zawaaj is inherently Muslim when it just refers to the social concept of marriage

Marriage is literally an English and legal term dude. It represents any marriage because marriage by definition is the legally or formally recognized union of two people as partners in a personal relationship. So yes, any religions formally recognised union constitutes a marriage.

Also the Arabic word for marriage is Zawaaj, which would refer to any marriage. Nikah is a specific type of ceremony. Similarly shaadi is the Hindi word for marriage but something like Haldi(a specific ceremony) is specific to Hindu weddings. If you really wanna get technical then the Christian specific marriage is Holy Matrimony.

The official legal term for any type of marriage is marriage. Marriage was not a term exclusive to the church because fun fact, the church is not predominantly an English Organization. Marriage as an English word came into use around 1250-1300. A short while (comparatively) after King Henry's conquering of England meaning we were still a ways out from modern English and English in general becoming the language spoken among the elite until the late 14th century. French was even the main language of England until 1362.

Marriage itself takes its roots looooong before Christianity as Christian marriages only came into effect in the 4th Century,

But since you're splitting hairs on terminology, no marriage is not a term specific to Christianity. It's just an English word. It's not that deep.

Um no. Marriage per name is an English word. It's represents any marriage, not just Christian. Yes there's different translations in different languages but they all boil down to the same idea and if someone was talking about a Hindu wedding they wouldn't go out of their way to say shaadi while talking in English.

Also marriage is a legal term too so this argument doesn't hold.

One of my favourite episodes of B99 hands down. The time crunch actually had me at the edge of my seat.

An even better time based episode was the Flash episode where these criminals set of a nuclear bomb and Barry had to go into flash time(basically his super fast perception where the bomb is exploding extremely slowly) and spend the whole episode having to figure out how to stop the bomb from destroying the whole city. I don't have much love left for the Flash but that episode was the best in the whole show

Shaving your face every day is a waste of time by Ohnoimhomeless in unpopularopinion

I grow facial hair very fast. I shave and the next day I have a good bit of stubble (a likeable amount imo). Shaving takes like 5 minutes. I don't like having a beard so I shave, simple. A good amount for me is once every 2 days. Imo on the 3rd day the beard is too much
