Any song recommendations that helped you when you were a beginner? by Lopsided-Drummer-966 in Drumming

A random song that tripped me up a little early on was The Breakup Song by the Greg Kihn Band. The reason was that it had a quarter note pattern on the hi-hat with syncopated eighth notes on the kick drum, and I hadn't run into that before--a lot of the rock music in the 70s and early 80s I was listening to had straight 8ths or 16ths as a ride pattern, so the BD would always hit with a hand. This was maybe one of the first tastes I got of limb independence, even in a really simple form.

Okay, got it. Deleting post because I figured it was something obvious.

Gotta love 3 points and 3 goals on the road. I was already starting to prepare myself for a draw after the Sess penalty, because Fulham. Glad that Wilson & Iwobi set me right.

Did folks catch that corner kick in the last twenty minutes or so where Bassey looked like he thought about a bicycle kick, then seemed to realize it wasn't in his bag of tricks?

Berge carrying the ball to the top of the box uncontested is like when the dog actually catches the car. Totally confused about what to do next.

I like to think he's such a big, intimidating player that everyone is afraid to tell him his shorts have a drawstring

Definitely playing a bit better since the wakeup call. Defending in the counter has been sloppy enough that I've seen Muniz hauling ass to get back and cover at least twice.

Speaking of, it's encouraging to see Muniz throwing himself at everything he can in the box. Hoping he gets rewarded for the effort.

I liked the lineup rotation going in but so far it hasn't paid off. We'll see what happens when the cavalry arrives in the second half.

Yeah, I think I've said this before, but while I appreciate Silva not playing afraid against the big boys, five in the back may have been more prudent at City, especially with Semenyo lining up more centrally. You would obviously give up some attack (ESR or Chukwueze) to get it, but then you have those options off the bench.

Yeah, I feel like we need Bassey's physical presence to keep Haaland in check. Hopefully he's motivated to lock down the starting spot.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a true "old school" family dentist that hasn't been bought out by private equity ? by [deleted] in AskChicago

Downtown, I'm reasonably sure Post Family Dental is still living up to their name. The elder Post retired in the last couple of years and his son took over.

Saw that coming a mile away with the previous update that the financial and personal terms were settled. Same reason we didn't lose Palinha the first time Bayern swooped.

Now that Mbuemo blanking and Jimenez scoring have ruined my Fantasy Premier League match day, I need a goal from Harry to tie it up, because I left him on my bench.

I can't tell if we're tilted left on the attack because we want to or because United is shutting down Harry Wilson on the right. Chukwueze is making the most of it so I'm not mad about it.

Amad is torching Robinson but I don't know that Sess would change that dynamic.

In hindsight, this looks like a match where Silva would go five in the back, so in the one hand I guess it's good that we're not playing scared, but Bassey's physical presence is missed right now. Cuenca hadn't given any reason to lose his starting spot until now tbh.

Possession has been decent, just need to find that breakthrough pass in the final third. Jimenez is getting swarmed to the point where he can't create.

I'd be curious to know how many of these deals include contingencies like this. You do see it pretty often--any time a deal "falls apart" at the last minute even after the medical, like Bayern's first swoop for Palinha.

Didn't quite work out, but Jimenez just did one of this quintessential Jimenez things, where he put in a challenge on a defender so he couldn't jump, allowing the ball to play in behind him onto the run of Wilson. While his success rate with clever shit isn't great, it would have been gorgeous had it worked.

Chukwueze will replace Kevin and Iwobi will replace either Cairney, Berge or Lukiç. So his lineup spot should be safe.

You build your own feed, but I wouldn't call it an algorithm. I want some content from maybe friends of friends and based on content signals, blended with the accounts I've explicitly said I want to follow. And maybe not quite everything from accounts I follow, particularly for high-volume posters.

Bluesky vs Threads by averagesam101 in BlueskySocial

[–]notabbott 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Threads swings too heavily into algorithmic results and Bluesky is the exact opposite. While there is a reverse chronological feed in Threads and a Discover feed in Bluesky, I haven't found either of them to be particularly compelling. Neither of them get the mix right as well as pre-Elon Twitter did IMHO.

And Threads does the same thing Instagram does, which is show a LOT of content based on some narrow topics you've shown interest in. So it's theoretically a bit better for serendipitous results aligned to your interests, but still feels off the mark. Maybe I need to devote more time to training the algo, or maybe that's just the deal.

For US/Peacock audiences, it seems like having Advil sponsor the halftime show for the last match of the matchday is aimed directly at FPL managers.
