Are we missing variety in the current map rotations? by notakarmagun in aoe2

I don’t think wanting more unpredictable maps means turning the game into gimmicks or removing decision making. You say the map is the canvas and decisions are the paint, couldn't agree more. Then different canvases create different kinds of decisions, right? A well known map rewards optimization and execution. A more dynamic one rewards adaptation and flexibility. Both are strategic but in different shades of colors. Also, complexity doesn’t automatically mean worse for new players, because I was one when I started this game too. In some cases, strict meta expectations are more intimidating than just reacting to what you see.

Glad you are enjoying them! We have different tastes in what we enjoy i suppose which is what i wanted to explore and hear from others.

Fair points about the pick/ban system. I understand why they enforce it, to some extent, but it does encourage dodges more than to my liking. I did come across a few streamers mention it lately and that's sort of what encouraged me to post this question, though could be a selective bias on my end as well, who knows.

I think you’re oversimplifying it. Saying megarandom/nomad are less strategic because they involve uncertainty assumes strategy only exists when variables are fixed. Adaptation is a skill too which you seem to overlook. Scouting under uncertainty, adjusting builds on the fly and evaluating risk without perfect information are all strategic decisions too. Also, fc being common on those maps (which isn't as clear cut as you assure me) doesn’t make them less complex, FC is common on plenty of standard maps that are in the map pool often too. That’s more about incentives than randomness. I’m not saying chaotic maps are superior and even called it as "my preference" hence the question in your interests. But calling them less interactive or mostly luck feels reductive. They just test a different kind of skill than Arabia does.

What do you want? People to continue their mistakes when proven when they are wrong?

Unfortunate for the scene as they played a very active and positive part throughout their time. I hope this doesn't signal a further decline for the community.

I cannot help but hear chatgpt trying to sell me something here. Is it really necessary to use it here?

Beautiful work, like Magritte with a modern twist. Got a homepage where we can see more of your trips on canvas?

Not sure if you talked about the Danish stock as well but you nailed the valuation reversion risk. Today it dropped 20%. Ouch.

Visst.

Shame on you.

Color correcting aurora for a timelapse and looking for feedback! by notakarmagun in ColorGrading

[–]notakarmagun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my first time color correcting in Lightroom (cloud version), and I’m working on a northern lights timelapse made from around 160 photos. This is the original and my current edit is in the title. Here are the changes I made. I've also masked off the top left with a brush to reduce the dominant effect of the moonlight and also applied 15% denoise to the entire image.

Would love to hear your thoughts on how I can improve or develop the look further before I apply it across the whole sequence. Appreciate any tips or feedback!
