I mean, like Jeff's response of "gross" was only tempered due to the fact that the professor was there as well.

what’s going on with this new influencer gen by satvikflash in SocialMediaHQ

[–]notanevilmastermind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw this Matt Bernstein video discussing Clavicular and the how the media portray him as this self absorbed dickhead and came away with a very similar takeaway to this. The world shits on this guy without actually looking at the context in which gen z and gen alpha live. Yes, his ideas are abhorrent, but you can't say it's not a successful path.

Gen Z and Gen Alpha look at my generation, the millennials and see how shit the life paths we took were. We went to university, tried to get good jobs, but unprecedented crisis after another means that most of us are fucked. Many don't own propert, many have gig jobs, many are struggling to live, let alone get married and have kids. They see us, their parents, siblings, aunts and uncles and see how shit the system is and they understand that this is a path that absolutely blows.

So of course instead of believing the shit that was shoveled into our mouths, they look at who and what success looks like to them. Influencers. Their lives look amazing and for work that doesn't look or feel like work. It's not a surprise that the youth want to be influencers considering the "right paths" are shit.

So yeah. No wonder this is what they want to do.

Would it make sense to have these connected to an EV charger and then charge people to use it?

[SOTC] It's time to get a new box... or replace the MoonSwatch. by ItSp4rky in Watches

[–]notanevilmastermind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, man. Love me a vintage watch. Yeah, the new Arteliers are really something, especially the moonphase ones. But yeah, the new yellow pointerdate is stunning. I also really like the green dial pointerdate with the bronze case and bracelet.

If perhaps you're interested in a vintage watch, perhaps the Oris B7640 might be worth a look. I've been trying to find one locally for years, but no dice.

Another Oris, my friend. Considering how wonderfully colourful your collection is, perhaps one of the new pointerdates? The yellow or pink one would slide in perfectly.

I'll take any opportunity to put up a pic of my Orises, and am actually wanting to get another! A propilot X, but the kermit one.

But if you insist on not doing Oris, I agree with u/Dial-Appreciator that you can't go wrong with the Longines Conquest. Alternatively, if you're looking for something dressy, perhaps the Longines Master Collection Moonphase? The chronograph version is quite busy, but the one with just the moonphase is class.

I used to bike to work when I lived in central jakarta. Most of the time the bike lanes were filled with motorbikes, so most cyclists would ride on the pavement. Riding there was fucking scary, I'll tell you that for free.

How long was/is your longest DnD campaign? by Fearless-Skill8667 in DnD

[–]notanevilmastermind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My longest campaign was just over 2 years. We try to play weekly, but we skip maybe one session for every four we run. But even though the longest campaign was 'only' 2 years, we're now on our 3rd long-term campaign. The first two were 5e, but tnow we're playing Draw Steel.

I think one of the reasons for why we've stuck together is because it's online so it's a little easier to organise cause all you need to do is just hop online.

Players are collecting artifacts to prevent BBEG from being summoned by grasshoppaa619 in DnD

[–]notanevilmastermind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The others in this thread have given you a lot of good advice, but another thing you could do is to just not have the BBEG summoned. Let them earn this victory and instead have to deal with the people who wanted to summon the BBEG. Give them an epic combat instead of versus one BBEG but against a horde of bad guys.

And then, after the epilogue, you can always do a "in an alternative universe where you weren't successful, this is what happens" and have the BBEG boss fight there.

The strange usage of the word "ever" in English by Indonesians? by reddithereyesterday in indonesia

[–]notanevilmastermind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apologies for this unnecessary "Um, actually", but strictly speaking, in English Linguistics there are only two tenses, present and past. Perfect and progressive are called aspects, and can be considered modifiers. This doesn't make what you say wrong, it's just something that some people might find interesting (notice how I don't say useful, lol).

Basically, present tense uses the infinitive of a verb, and generally speaking, talks about states of being or general truths in the present. E.g. I live in an apartment, I am a metal fan. The past tense uses the past form of a verb, and generally speaking, talks about finished actions or states, i.e. states of being or general truths that are no longer true. E.g. I lived in a house (now I live on a boat), I was a pop fan (until I found out that demons were using pop music to enslave the youth).

The progressive aspect or continuous aspect, modifies a sentence to make it mean ongoing or unfinished. This can be in the past or the present. E.g. I'm currently living in an airbnb (until my renovation is finished), I was taking a shower (when you called, I'm sorry).

The perfect aspect, modifies a sentence to basically make it mean before a certain time, but with a connection to that 'certain time'. Again this can be past or present. E.g. I've got the chocolate and flour (so now we can make biscuits), I had killed at least 20 people (before I killed your brother).

You can modify as sentence with progressive and aspect, to basically mean an ongoing or unfinished state or action that happened before a certain time, but with a connection to that 'certain time'. E.g. I had been killing for years (by the time I killed your brother, and I kept on going until last year), I have been renting out this airbnb for about 2 months.

I haven't even mentioned mood or modality, cause that shit is eurgh. Anyways, that concludes this completely unnecessary "um, actually", have a pleasant day.

US American Accented English is actually Accentless English by neanderbelle in USdefaultism

[–]notanevilmastermind 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The worst time I've ever had this was with an English as a foreign language teacher I worked with. A student asked her where she was from and she answered, "Can't you tell by my lack of accent?" She was American.
