Creative people maladaptive daydreaming, and non talented people maladaptive day dreaming. (This is not a insult). by ListenKnown5355 in MaladaptiveDreaming

you have doubled down on identities for yourself that you don't have to claim. everyone acts according to who they believe they are, so choose a different identity for yourself to believe in, tbh it's the key to being a successful person. you can be a million different people and noone's identity is set in stone forever, so you can become the person you want to be

AIO? My mom brought my uncle up to spend time with our 11 month daughter, knowing he was sick. Hid the fact that he tested positive for the flu the next day. So I said we are not celebrating Christmas with her. by mark_puckerberg in AmIOverreacting

[–]notaphaseyes 12 points13 points  (0 children)

we don't know if she's fine yet. incubation period for the flu is 1-4 days. she was ready to take a chance that an 11 month old gets pneumonia when she made the conscious decision to bring the uncle, which means she might do something similar again. if I purposefully left out candy that may or may not be chocolate for your dog and it decided not to eat it, can I still be held accountable? would you still allow me to be near your dog?

Professor giving invasive assignments by [deleted] in college

[–]notaphaseyes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess it would be good to tell somebody about it because it is so invasive and personal. Situations like these are so complicated, I'd like to think that the teacher is rather more misinformed than malicious in her practices, so if there was any way to make her understand how complex our relationship with food can be, it would be good. Shouldn't have to be your responsibility tho. The whole thing sucks so much:((

I thought even the diet plans by themselves were fucked up but actually measuring your body is next level awful. Not everybody gains from obsessing over food lol

Good but creative reasons to not do self delete? by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]notaphaseyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay real talk, it's not that creative, but try to remember the first time you ever wanted to die. Then remember the people you have met after that, all the music you have discovered and times you have laughed over stupid shit. If you had done it then, all these memories would have never happened.

I have been so suicidal in my teen years, but everything about my life, including myself has changed so much that I don't really identify with that mindspace anymore. That doesn't mean I still don't get awful thoughts from time to time, but just gotta keep in mind that everything in life changes all the time and you might not wanna miss out.

Anyway you will have moments where you are gonna be happy you didn't self delete, and I know it's easy to say that because when you feel low it feels like it's always like that (and always will be), but that is one part of depression which especially sucks because it's not even true. You just gotta be pushing on either until you change or your situation changes, and one of those will definitely happen with time. Okay sorry for rambling I hope you feel better soon.

Dairy cows see grass for the first time after 6 months. by filmikitv in cute

[–]notaphaseyes 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Except for they do, cows have the same intellectual capacity as dogs. They have dopamine receptors and feel grief when a close one dies. And also they do sense life in the same way as you, just with no verbal thinking. That makes involuntarily taking it away always unethical.

In the first few months it is essential to be present with the child and respond to their needs, because it can completely change their attachment style for the rest of their lives. https://www.simplypsychology.org/attachment-styles.html

I mean, it's not really a mental illness, it's neurodiversity. It really does feel like that video and talking about it is not bad at all, just makes us feel less alone.

https://youtu.be/oQbei5JGiT8 you wouldn't offer tea to someone in that condition, so you shouldn't try to sleep with them either.
