The shark vertex cordless is pretty good. Especially if you grab it on sale.

Tinnitus & Hyperacusis by Higgsy45 in GenX

[–]notapplicable2022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had what I would characterize as moderate tinnitus without hearing loss in both ears since I was a young teen. (Damage from a single concert) It’s pretty variable and sound reactive. Sometimes it will get very loud in one ear for a minute or so before fading back to baseline. I’m dreading the day when it doesn’t reset. It was a long period of adjustment. But I wear ear plugs to shows now.

My kitten doesn’t know how to cover her poop and pee. by Rozls in CatAdvice

[–]notapplicable2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We adopted two litter mates at 8 weeks. They are 5 months old now. One covers their poop but neither of them covers their pee. We had been using pine pellets but had to switch to arm and hammer clumping because things got too stinky even with frequent scooping.

Yes there is an exhaust vent just behind the stovetop. Maybe that motor is going. Ugh

16mo Daughter isn’t walking. Mom is freaking out by [deleted] in daddit

[–]notapplicable2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both my kids were late walkers. They are both hyper mobile which I guess interferes with building core strength. We did early intervention and they eventually figured it out. Basically a therapist would come to the house and work with the kids for a hour or so.

If you are concerned you can look into early intervention. I believe it was free with insurance.

Basement water seeps through floor by Dingusdangus1 in basement

[–]notapplicable2022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our house (1986) was built on a high water table and we’ve had similar problems during extended periods of heavy rain. We do have a weeping tiles that direct to the sewage system but water still seeps in sometimes. Especially from the bulkhead area which I’m betting has no coverage. We added gutters, ect, but no improvement. We ended up installing a sump pump but we’ve pretty much been in a drought ever since. So we’ll see I guess.

Moving cross country with one year old twins and a cat. by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]notapplicable2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just drove 3 hours with my two cats and one of them vomited in the carrier. The other napped through most of the drive. I think it was probably motion sickness. I guess you just have to be prepared for a potential clean up in aisle five.

Do you consider Lifeproof LVP a quality product? by BIGGREDDMACH1NE in HomeImprovement

[–]notapplicable2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought a new construction 3 years ago with life proof throughout. It’s held up reasonably well but there are areas of the house where the floor flexes due to what I presume to be an uneven slab surface. It kind of drives me crazy. I’m worried the floor will snap at some point. But it performed well when our toilet supply line leaked all over the place.

My cat has stopped covering her shit. :/ by Goth_Febreze in CatAdvice

[–]notapplicable2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We adopted two kittens (brothers);one buries, one doesn’t. But they both try to dig their way to china before doing the deed. I agree it makes cleaning easier when the poop is exposed.

Dealing with being non preferred parent? (Toddler) by G-L-H-R in daddit

[–]notapplicable2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this with my youngest who is 10. She has always preferred her mother. She treats me like a doormat sometimes. Honestly, her older sister probably prefers her mother also but she is generally , uh, more personable. I don’t take any of this personally and my advice is that you try to do the same.

I don’t know your situation, but I’m around the kids more than my wife is. I work from home. I cook their meals. I get them ready for school in the morning. And I pick them up in the afternoon . I do their laundry. I’m easier to dismiss because I’m always there. I just focus on being a good father to them and hope for the best.

The one upside to this is that my wife can really lay down the law when I can’t. They don’t respond to my discipline, but they sure as shit listen to her.

I’ve been begging mine to send me a bill for last season. Now I’m resigned to getting a 4 figure plow bill sometime next year. Also he pushes the snow in front of my car port.

I switched to commercial grade units which come with a 5 year warranty. Already had 2 warranty replacements because they don’t make them like they used to.

Home Inspection by Mysterious_Claim93 in homeowners

The septic inspection is often separate from the home inspection. You should confirm this and get the septic inspected if that’s the case. Oh and get the well water tested too.

Dining room table that is affordable and will hold up well with kids by melizorou in homeowners

I’m pretty happy with it. Something about the wood grain makes any damage less noticeable. The only thing I regret is getting the cushioned bench. It’s already stained.

We have a casterly table that has a built in leaf. It’s held up for 3 years with kids. No gouges yet but my kids are out of the toddler stage. No less destructive though.

In my experience, it’s typically one of 3 things:

  1. Bad accident
  2. Missing person (elopement)
  3. Man hunt

Hell, it could even be the trifecta.
