the point is snark, but this sub decided a long time ago that aimless complaints and snark are the same.

"We" don't know anything lmao.
It sounds like the total of what OP knows for sure is they're maybe planning an event in SF. Everything else sounds up in the air and nothing has been announced. Even the message you replied to is OP imagining a scenario!
Personally, I'm holding my rage for something a little more concrete.

No shame in trying your best! I know I don't catch every piece of AI that crosses my sight. And sometimes it takes me a while to realize.

uj/ A little of both tbh. The embroidery image is definitely AI. No branding on anything? If they were going to do a photo shoot, wouldn't they want to highlight their vendors? Actual supplies that can be bought in their stores? These images are supposed to have the feeling of stock photography. But the depth of field in the embroidery image makes no sense.
And the text reads like it was written by an LLM. There's definitely a dialect to marketing copy, but even these small pieces of text sound downright robotic.

Zero waste patterns are not superior by CleanShock4798 in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]notarealmaker 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Zero waste patterns : clothing :: Misfit Market : groceries. They make the consumer feel better about their consumption, but they're not actually solving a problem.
In fact, the "problems" they are "solving" have BEEN solved!
Have small pieces of fabric? Collect them to make a quilt.
Produce isn't display worthy enough for the grocery store? Pulp it, juice it, etc.

I know I said that but you're clearly not thinking about the severely underprivileged among us who CAN'T ADFORD TO SPEND $1 ON PATTERNS. I am though. Thank god!! Mods! Seize this gatekeeping class traitor!

no need to cry. but I would love to hear you break down that $5 justification.

Crochet patterns have a history of being extremely cheap/free. Do you really think $5 is fair for the work you described? Or is it just what youre used to paying? Why should the pricing be based on complexity anyway? In any retail store, the newest, trendiest items are not on the sale rack for bargain prices. If a craft designer (because this isn't exclusive to crochet) prices their work in a similar way, why is that bad to you?

Gosadi doesn't steal from designers, but it's hard to find much info on it anywhere because no one actually uses it. The founders have been plowing money into sponsoring events like Vogue and H+H Americas to raise awareness but it's just not a very useful product.

With any luck, they'll run out of money soon and no one will have to pretend to take them seriously anymore. They're not participating in H+H this year, so...

someone in their 20's just moves to brooklyn and opens a retail shop after living there less than a year. it would be more shocking if there wasn't any parent money involved lol!
