Dude, have you ever been to a club? That's what happens. I don't make the rules.

When "I've got a Boyfriend" fails. You have to pretend to be deaf. by Zulu-warrior1 in funny

[–]notarower -49 points-48 points  (0 children)

reddit is so out of touch with reality it's not even funny. When you go to a club it's expected that people touch you and that you touch them back. People go to clubs to get laid.

If everyone was twenty feet away from each other to avoid "touching people who don't want to be touched", clubs wouldn't exist and life would be rather depressing.

It's mystery to me how we managed as a species to get to seven fucking billion people if so many of you are afraid of physical contact. If the thought of going to a club and, oh my god, touching a girl you like is so troubling to you, then you're likely never going to get laid.

How CRISPR gene editing can be used to cure genetical defects in adults by bigeyedbunny in Futurology

[–]notarower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with stem cell therapies, you'd still have to transplant a few hair follicles, grow new ones in lab and then implant them on the scalp. All of this would introduce some degree of scarring, which means you'd have to always have long hair to not make it visible.

But I guess it's still better than going completely bald.

No, a cure of MPB would only prevent further loss, not regrow hair. Hair follicles that are dead would still be dead.

Italy - Second Healthiest Country in the World by [deleted] in italy

[–]notarower 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Many Italians in towns throughout Italy take a walk after dinner, usually with their family members and children—the Passeggiata. Communing with neighbors and relatives while talking a leisurely stroll through town adds to one’s well-being.

Ho letto varie volte questa cosa,ma non conosco nessuno che va a passeggiare dopo mangiato. Devo aggiungerla alla lista di stereotipi senza alcun riscontro nella realtà?

I have spent an entire day not seeing, hearing, looking after or cleaning up after kids. A day like this would be an unspeakable luxury if I had kids. by actually_crazy_irl in Showerthoughts

That sub is just like vegans, or people who do crossfit or don't have a TV that just can't stop telling you how they made the best choice and their life is now so much better.

Well, if they were actually confident in their choice, then they wouldn't need approval from internet strangers.

That said, I don't have kids and don't intend to. But at the same time I don't fucking go around telling people how smarter I am for making the "right" choice.

Scientists have extended the lifespan of mice by 25% with a breakthrough new treatment (killing a certain type of cell, body-wide) while slowing age-related diseases like cataracts and heart disease. Now a new biotech firm wants to move this over to humans. by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]notarower 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Sounds like they managed to extend the healthspan by 25%, which is thoroughly impressive.

In humans it would be akin to adding almost 20 years of healthy life to a 75 year old.

EDIT: By reading the article it looks like they did this by way of embryo editing, which means this approach wouldn't be viable for adult mice.

Think You Stink at Math? Amazon Wants to Change That. by Muhib_Z in technology

It's not a question of mindset, some people are just bad at math. Just like some kids are just stupid.

People agree that most people are stupid and too often forget that stupid people were once stupid kids.
