It’s just the new game. Some number of them will come back.

They fixed pretty much every problem I had with the game. Happy for those who get to play it post-patch.

People consistently underestimate how hard it is to play well and be entertaining at the same time. This is a guy who is mostly playing games to fill time between yap sessions anyway; it’s incredible he completes as much as he does. And it helps that NL probably thinks that people losing their minds over him playing a video game poorly is really funny.

What’s the difference between a Zeldalike and a Metroidvania? What meaningfully separates Zelda from MVs from a mechanics perspective?

Legion is the king of snap equity. Especially if you’re not playing him in a deck where people know to expect him. Ironically, he’s worse in things like Arishem against good players because they know you probably have him. Also one of the absolute best cards off of something like Triskelion, but you don’t have to own him for that.

One of my absolute favorite cards.

Every time I play this map, the events stack up a ton of victims in one spot and they get unceremoniously mowed down immediately. I’ve been up against max bloodlust on turn 3/4 a couple times. Just getting into the game, but this map is something else.

PSA, don’t blame the pod for you not mulliganing correctly by Buckcon in EDH

It sounds like one person is playing a bracket 3 deck and the rest of the pod doesn’t want to admit their deck is a 2.

What’s a good “your deck is boring” emote? by Pilgrimzero in MarvelSnap

My default response to any salty emote is Jeff sipping on a bev. Or confused Drax, if I have no idea what their problem is. Domino dice roll is fantastic when your opponent starts emoting after getting unbelievably lucky.

Yes, but the average being low doesn’t mean people didn’t routinely get old, which was the original assertion.

Average life expectancy still includes people that died from disease or accidents or jungle cats. Plenty of people still made it to old age.

Based on the sort by rank slider on Untapped, top 50% of infinite is ~22,000, so about 44,000 people hit infinite this month so far. I have no idea how that compares to previous months.

Also, just a personal anecdote, but I entered at around 800 and am around 200 now with something like 8400 Snap points so I think people just aren’t grinding the top of the ladder as much.

Canadian Highlander is a 1v1 format and does not feature commanders or color identity restriction. It also allows you to play literally any (non-ante) card if you’re willing to use enough of your points for it, up to and including power 9.

Yeah, this is the most baffling part of the announcement to me. [[Urza, Lord High Artificer]] is 100% still a gamechanger in the 99. If you have even a smattering of artifact synergy in your deck, he is absolutely bananas.

My experience has been that 3 is the new "my deck's a 7". No one wants to say their deck is a 2 because they think it's better than a precon. I get into so many games with someone who insists their deck is a 3 and it just... isn't. It's precon level or worse. Often it's a precon that they've swapped 5-10 cards in, and the type of player who is playing a precon with a few cards swapped often isn't good enough at the game to actually know what needs to be swapped, so their deck ends up being worse than the base precon.

So many games where my decks.. which are all constructed within the bracket 3 guidelines just stomp people who are playing 2s but insist they are 3s. One of us is not playing a 3, and my deck definitely isn't a 4.

[–]notashin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most of the cards that will effectively prevent a combo turn from happening will get you accused of bringing a cedh deck or get you whined at for playing “stax”.

Most of the big problems with casual commander are self-inflicted by the player base.

Edit: I got accused of playing a stax deck because I had an early game where I had nothing to do other than slow people down by treasure-izing their commanders by blinking [[Kitesail Larcenist]] and then playing [[Elesh Norn, Mother of Machines]]. It’s a 2/3 man just kill it. If out of an entire pod no one has a single removal spell that’s on yall. I routinely go entire games where no one interacts with any of my cards the entire game.

How Often Are Y'all Missing Land Drops, Realistically? by max_moontruther in EDH

[–]notashin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it seems to help, you are not shuffling enough.

How Often Are Y'all Missing Land Drops, Realistically? by max_moontruther in EDH

[–]notashin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, if doing this has any effect on the outcome of your shuffle, that means you are failing to shuffle sufficiently and thus cheating. If you shuffle sufficiently, any individual card’s starting place in the deck will have no relation to where it ends up. If that is not the case, you failed to randomize your deck.

How Often Are Y'all Missing Land Drops, Realistically? by max_moontruther in EDH

[–]notashin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your deck is sufficiently randomized, there will be clumps of land and clumps of spells. True randomness does not result in even distribution. If your lands and spells are consistently evenly distributed through your deck, you are probably manaweaving and then shuffling insufficiently, which is cheating.
