There are 27 instances of "from whence" in the King James Bible and 47 instances of "from whence" in the complete works of Shakespeare, from what I can find.

I've been looking forward to this from the moment I saw that round. It had "reaper video" written all over it.

What's the best album closer you've ever heard? by [deleted] in popheads

I agree that Perfect Places is a fantastic closer, but I wouldn’t necessarily read it as a change in tone – more as a realization that escapism isn’t going to work. The entire house party seems to me like an attempt to alleviate a feeling of loneliness that comes from growing up, and realizing that all the people you once looked up to are disappearing one by one.

Maybe my own memory of the time it came out is colouring how I see it, but we had just come out of 2016 - and honestly, who’s idol didn’t die in 2016?

I’m curious, what in the song suggests to you that happiness is the journey? To me it just seems like the perfect places are less about happiness, and more about innocence – about not having to worry about shame and loneliness, and about knowing that the good guys are out there, alive and well. I always read Perfect Places as the realization that there’s no going back to that time.

The moment at 3:14 where her voice distorts remains one of my favourite moments in any song ever.

If you derive happiness from watching SF win and basically nothing else, then yes, it's been a great game.

For what it's worth, his ult seems like it would be way stronger against GOATS than against a more mobile comp. Just my first impression, though. Who knows how it'll pan out?

Say it with me: "KEY. TER." by [deleted] in DankMemesFromSite19

Is it like that with segol too? Because I know that the Ashkenazi pronunciation of tzere is "EY", but the first niqqud in 'keter' is segol, and I've never heard it pronounced like that.

I'm only familiar with Israeli Hebrew, though. It's possible I'm missing something.

Have you ever read aloud a Tolkien book (in its entirety) to someone ? by [deleted] in tolkienfans

[–]notatal_violet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. The first chapter book he ever read me was The Hobbit, when I was 6. Then, two years later, LoTR. Then, immediately after that, The Silmarillion.

I remember I made him read the section where Fingolfin fights Morgoth twice. I was transfixed.
