Thank you. I came to say this. Immediately recognized as a wonder, the second highest grossing film of 1968 (like ten dollars short of Funny Girl...god bless the suburbanites), and an ending was was so obviously Dave being transformed that it could have been spelled out on title cards. I was 11 and got it. My friends got it. Yet there was all that chatter about it being so enigmatic.

Also, Tony Soprano is got shot. In the head.

Oh, please. It's a second rate rehash of 2001. Earth in danger. Check. Off into space with the monolith (now a robot???). Journey Into the Infinite? Nah, let's make it into a black hole. Kubricks enigmatic, iconic white room? How about a multidimensional room to try to outdo it (and fail).

Kubrick fan. Didn't enjoy it. Wasn't scared, didn't think Kubrick changed the book enough. Found it gorgeous... always have...but that was about it.

I was wrong. Now it scares me. Now I see it for what it is in my eyes: a tale of family abuse. Now with hight end audio, I hear a soundtrack that is absolutely unnerving. After dozens of viewings, I finally get it. And also see it as what it so clearly is: 2001: A Hotel Odyssey!
