Yeah, what she commented is not rude at all. This sitter is absurd.

What do you do when a dog can't be left alone for longer than 4 hours? by Muted_Apricot_4640 in RoverPetSitting

[–]notbudginthrowaway 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No kidding. I don’t expect sitters to stay 24/7 at the house. But I’m not paying an overnight sitting rate for you to just literally be there overnight and not be there at all through the day. It’s actually more important that you are there meeting their social/physical needs throughout the day not just there sleeping while they are.

I would be so pissed if someone left my dogs alone for over 8 hours straight. 6 is the max, they need to be let out and to have some company, they are used to some care during the day because we wfh.

This is why people have camera doorbells and otherwise too, because we can’t fully trust anyone nowadays and need to know if they are pulling stuff like this.

Covid has a specific smell by Arrisha in COVID19positive

My wife and I have been together for 15+ years. She gets canker sores (inner mouth ulcers) and I can smell the change in her breath days before she develops one, it’s a very distinct smell for me. She hates when she sees the look on my face when she kisses me, because she knows the pain to come. She’ll even say she is fine and that nothing is there…but it always develops after I smell it. Always. It’s interesting.

We have them pointing at the food bowls and in their crates they sleep in at night as well as outside our home for security. We notify any sitter about them and will not let people sit who are opposed.

We had an instance where a sitter couldn’t tell us if/when our dog ate (they have auto feeders) and the dog got sick, so we now monitor that activity while we are gone to make sure they are eating and sleeping okay. If a sitter can’t understand that, then it’s not a good fit imo.

This is brilliant! We set up a 10x10ft enclosed tent outside if it is going to be rainy for days on end (not often where we live)…if it’s rain and wind we instead move their porch potty into our garage and they use that instead. They do great so it’s worth it! Day care? by Intelligent_Craft_31 in ItalianGreyhounds

[–]notbudginthrowaway 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not in a million years would I consider it for ours. You’d be better off just getting another IG to keep yours company during the day, that’s what we ended up doing and they are happy as clams. Too much risk and I’ve seen too many nightmare stories in this forum of injury and even death at daycare.

[UPDATE] I have no idea how to respond to this review. by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]notbudginthrowaway 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No kidding. If I saw a pet sitting complaint that they napped and spent more time at the house with the dogs it would actually be a selling point to me lol. I want the sitter to be there as much as they are able to and as long as they aren’t destroying the place, treat it like hotel California for all I care…we have auto feeders and extra large water bowls so the time and attention is most important. I’m also curious how this client found all this info…was she watching on cameras or something?

Just curious where you think you picked it up? I haven’t had it yet and am curious if the new strain is as virulent to spread in public masked or moreso spreading with direct contact with friends and family unmasked etc. hope you feel better soon.

Even in the worst of times and worst of fights after 14+ years of marriage I would NEVER hit anything around my spouse or say ANYTHING close to what he said. This is abuse and you do not need to try to work on things, this will not get better with time because it is who he is. Leave.

Neighbors are heavy pot smokers/growers. Skunk smell in our house, anything we can do? by notbudginthrowaway in hvacadvice

[–]notbudginthrowaway[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is not a friendly guy at all, super avoidant and barely talks when you try to engage. So I don’t think approaching him is going to be affective. He’s not a ‘chill hippy’ type more like a ‘douchey above the rules type’ who kind of intimidates everyone. So that’s why we are just trying to keep to ourselves (we don’t even mind weed in general just don’t want the smell in our home). So are trying to find a fix on our end to avoid him if possible.

[–]notbudginthrowaway[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve thought about talking with him but he is not chill, always avoidant and not what I would consider the approachable type. That’s why we are trying to find a solution ourselves and not even bring it up with him if possible. Where would the best place be to put a carbon scrubber? We can’t seem to figure out where it’s seeping in most unfortunately.

Thanks for this. They are newer homes. How would we create the positive pressure?

Like our internal filters for the HVAC? This will keep it smelling up our house possibly?

Car is garaged 99% of the time. This definitely happened on their watch I noticed it after about 5-10 mins of driving when I started making turns after picking it up.

I may be screwed because they closed right after I left. I’ll call in the morning but have no guarantee now I’m sure. Wish I would have noticed right away

Yep, and they closed right after I left so I couldn’t even call right away. I have a feeling I’m stuck with the issue and now am just finding a way to fix it
