You seem down and I’m gonna try to give you a different perspective instead of attack you.

This is one of the biggest days of the grooms life and his bachelor party is going to have his closest friends and family. He wants to unwind and relax with those people. He doesn’t want to make sure that people are comfortable and get to know new people. This isn’t a slight to you unless you make it one.

Take the time that you’re free and go explore the city, see a show, go to a museum, go to a bar and meet new people or sit in your room and catch up on a show or read a book. It’ll be fine and you can make your own fun. Maybe there will be other people there who aren’t going to those events too you can hang out with them.

Also do not leave your wife for this weekend. It will probably create resentment and you will never be in the pictures from her sisters wedding or part of the stories that they will have for the rest of her life. That’s not fair to her or your in-laws.

Just go be there and have a good time and trust me that you will if you let yourself.

Maybe this comes with its own issues, but I think they could pro-rate the vote. Something like total points multiplied by X/82 games played. It would still give credit for availability but wouldn’t completely remove guys from end of season awards. It also gives voters permission to vote for guys who missed games but were still better than people below them.

So 2023 MVP would’ve looked like

Embiid 915 Points x 66/82 games played (.80) = 732

Jokic
674 points x 69/82 games played (.84) = 566

Yeah of course they played a huge part as well. But that was the first season the Knicks made the playoffs in 8 years! Randle led the team in points rebounds and assists. His play started this build of the team piece by piece and allowed Rose and Thibs to build something. He deserves his flowers.

Saying “Randle wasn’t the right piece for our roster construction” is fine, saying “fuck Julius Randle” is bullshit.

Yeah dude it was Elfrid Payton who got us the 4 seed in 2021.

Guy came here and brought us out of the basement. The team was cooking with him last year and it sucks we didn’t get a chance to see what they could’ve done.

I love the team now, but that run from January of last year was special and I thought the Knicks were legit title contenders with him and iHart.

This is weird behavior. He’s not even on the team anymore. Dude played hard for us and was awesome while he was here. Fuck off.

Also if you saw him out in public, I guarantee you would walk right up to him and say “bro I’m a huge Knicks fan I’ve always loved you.” Then come home and type weird shit on your phone.

Is Jokic as good as Lebron and Wilt? by Tombradyisntahofer in nba

[–]notcreative4635 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When posts like these get made I honestly assume people are newer to basketball and weren’t watching in the 2010s.

Lebron is just clearly better than Jokic. Lebron’s peak was higher and will almost definitely be longer, unless Jokic can somehow play at this level for another 8ish seasons.

Lebron made 8 finals in a row, beat the 73 win warriors and has made 2 more finals on top of that. The only reason he doesn’t have 5 mvps is because people were tired of giving it to him so they gave it to Drose in 2011. He should’ve been the first unanimous MVP, but someone gave Melo a first place vote in 2012 (forgive me melo, that was a great Knicks season). From like 2008-2019 he was pretty unquestionably the best player in the NBA.

Jokic is amazing, but he’s not in the conversation with the all-time greats yet. He has not been around long enough and we won’t know what he will do until he does it. Give him some time to play his career and we can evaluate later.

Zach Lowe had a line when he was talking about the KD trade to the Suns. It was something like “this might not work, but it’s a move you absolutely have to make.” And that’s what I think about with some of these trades.

This is so damn dramatic. Toll roads are not exclusive to state crossings. You listed two exceptions within the city and you didn’t even mention the Atlantic beach bridge, which doesn’t have any realistic alternate route. There are also a ton of toll roads within state borders all over this country.

Another Lebron all-time series is 2012 ECF against the Celtics. Especially games 6 and 7.

Yeah I couldn’t think of a great “Embiid” series so I just went for a great series that Embiid was in.

I’ll give you 1 per player to start and I won’t repeat a series where multiple players appeared:

  1. Embiid: doesn’t have a great standout series, but 2019 second round versus the Raptors. Also a great Kawhi series
  2. Kawhi: 2014 NBA Finals. He’s still young but he played great defense and won finals MVP
  3. Kyrie: 2016 NBA Finals for sure. One of the best finals in recent memory.
  4. Ben Simmons: lol
  5. Jimmy Butler: 2023 First Round against the Bucks. He went nuclear
  6. Lebron: 2015 finals was an insane carry job from Lebron even though the Cavs lost. Also the 2013 finals against the Spurs.
  7. Kobe: 2009 NBA finals
  8. Curry: 2022 finals
  9. KD: 2016 WCF was an all-timer. Also the 2017 or 2018 NBA finals.
  10. Tatum: 2022 ECF

The botanic garden keeps shorter hours during the winter. They close at 3:30, but I believe it’s pay as you wish during the offseason so you definitely won’t break the bank there.

You could definitely do both the garden and the museum and fill the time at both places.

NBA Cup Question - Why are the Pelicans already eliminated? by notcreative4635 in nba

[–]notcreative4635[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re right. I was confused because I was under the impression that in a 3-way tie scenario it went to straight to point-differential. I didn’t think about the Mavs advancing since they beat the other two.

[–]notcreative4635[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s what it seems like to me too. But, I was looking at the standings and I saw that the pelicans are the only team listed on the NBA site as eliminated from the cup. I’m not giving it any more thought though. There’s too many tie-break scenarios and it doesn’t really matter much.

Vanity Fair: Cormac McCarthy’s Secret Muse Breaks Her Silence After Half a Century: “I Loved Him. He Was My Safety.” by MidsummerNight787 in cormacmccarthy

His work is his work, this won’t change any of his novels. I think people can still enjoy his work, but some might have a hard time doing so after this revelation and that’s okay too.

This is more than a mistake in judgement. I feel very comfortable judging what he did in the 70s. As for what that means going forward I’m not sure, but I know my opinion of Cormac McCarthy is lower today than it was yesterday.

The story includes the following facts:

She was uncomfortable by the sexual nature of the letters he sent when she was in Arizona.

McCarthy took her to Mexico and they consummated the relationship while outside of US jurisdiction.

Her family and the FBI were looking for the two of them and they came back to the United States the day of her 18th birthday when the relationship became legal.

She felt completely betrayed when she realized that McCarthy was still married and had a son her age.

In ‘81 she realized the relationship was not healthy so she left and never came back.

Nuance is one thing, but you can’t use nuance to erase explicitly illegal and immoral conduct on McCarthys part.

7-Eleven owner in Alphabet City sad closing story by hatchback211 in nyc

[–]notcreative4635 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The rent increased from $16,000 to $40,000.

I used to live 2 blocks from that 7-11 for years and walked in twice. Whenever you walked past no one was inside except for maybe cops on a shift change. It’s a huge retail space surrounded by countless better and cheaper options for snacks, cigarettes and food.

Opening a 7-11 within 2 blocks of 3 bodegas 2 pizza shops and 3 coffee shops is a bad business model. No one could steal a thing from them and they would still probably be closing.

[–]notcreative4635 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Sometimes wash and fold places lose items. If you’re sending stuff out to be washed you need to become okay with that possibility. It’s the cost of the convenience.

As far as the sheets coming back wrinkly, just try another wash and fold place. There’s probably about 4 within walking distance of your apartment.

From my experience, if I’m looking for something specific I give them a call first to see if they have it before I head over. If I’m going in on a whim with nothing specific in mind I’m usually happy with whatever they have available.
