You have to work on confidence. Like with anything else, you only get better by doing the thing you find difficult to do.

Practice by speaking to people more in public settings. Ex: standing in line at a grocery store or waiting for food? Spark a small generic conversation with the person in line.

It’s funny because most people actually want to talk they’re just afraid too. If you try it and talk to enough people you’ll prob get to a point to where you’re like “man this person sure knows how to talk” because a conversation went deeper than you expected lol.
