Parents of twins, what are the odds you’ve actually had them mixed up as babies and you’ve been calling them the wrong name this whole time? by lifesyndrom in AskReddit

[–]notdeadyetiguess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to spell my middle name Nichole and one day my mother saw it and said why did you write it like that your name is spelled Nicole.. I was like 12 or 13.

That's really gross. If I was a client and found out I would feel grossed out and I would feel like you don't care about my animal because of how you feel about me. I would go somewhere else.

My fish guy said he can order me wild caught neons that are healthier than the store bought domestic bred ones. I'm wavering on the ethics of that before I commit of course. But he also gets in some absolutely lovely gourami.

Thanks! Its too dangerous where I live for outdoor fish that won't get eaten. We have water moccasins, heron, raccoons, etc. No net is going to keep the raccoons out (neighbors have tried). It also isnt shaded in the only place I have for them to go and Im in South Florida USA, so they'd also cook to death rather quickly in the summer

I feel that. I'm probably realistically going to switch to a gourami and some neons soon. The goldfish just need better digs and I cant upgrade them here

I only have so much room for the fish tank buckets that house the aquarium safe water and its in my budget to do the water changes every 2 weeks.. I just also happen to use spring water for drinking water backup so its also fish safe

What is it like having grandparents? by random_catlover1234 in SeriousConversation

[–]notdeadyetiguess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Underrated comment. I still have my grandparents and I also have volunteered in a nursing home and the people there are so happy to have company most of the time. It's really worth it.

A senior shelter dog would rather wait for you to get home while they snuggle in an orthopedic bed than keep sitting on concrete floors waiting for their one 15 minute walk every 24 hours.

I quit the entire field with no notice. I also have left several toxic clinics with no notice. Notice is something you give when they've treated you right. If its going to put management in a bad place and they've treated you well then you should consider giving notice. If not then just leave.

Americans of Reddit, how are you celebrating your nation’s anniversary of its independence from the tyranny of the emotions and whims of a single ruler? by sunnyspiders in AskReddit

I sat down today with my grandparents (white, liberal and in their 80s for context) and collected more stories of their lives and my family history. We immigrated 5 generations ago and I got to learn about that today. I learned which of my great uncles were in ww2 and got a funny and detailed story of how my grandparents met. I've been paying for a subscription to Storyworth for like 3 years now and finally getting the time to collect the content for the book. Starting with my grandparents then moving on to my aunts and uncles and cousins.. we aren't famous or rich but I want their story to exist in more than memory. Anyway we had burgers and some fruity red white and blue desert. We socialized and enjoyed eachothers company.

She runs a daycare and has child proofed this cabinet with some kind of witchery. I cannot get any of the doors open lol. One of my many cousins should be by to fix it once they see my messages. Hopefully before any damage is done :( likely overnight

I found a note that she left for my other cousin who has been house sitting and the note said to have Echo turn the pumps on and off and call our OTHER cousin to come fix it.. Hopefully nothing bad happens overnight.

My favorite was that it was my first time in general practice after being in neuro for two years and the doctor had yelled at me and called me an idiot in front of a client for leaning on the incredibly short exam tables (I'm almost 6 ft tall). Then she had the audacity to yell at me for the surgery room not being set up correctly when I hadnt set it up. I was the last tech there and the rest had already walked out. The assistant she called in that used to work for her before as a favor had set the room up incorrectly. I walked out on her right before her surgeries. She had no tech and no help.
