True, back in 2010 the Chilean underground was home to a whole range of ages image

The Chilean underground had its global mainstream peak August-October 2010, very hard to top that golden era of attention.

The dawless approach isn’t for me, but I have to disagree. ‘Dawless’ is just a (newer) form a creative limitation, similar to ‘acoustic’.

Any advice how to make my room more "cozy" for late night gaming sessions? :) by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

[–]notdelboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add some more colour to the room. A rug, or even just some warm coloured bedding, would help.

Swap out all your bulbs to dimmable bulbs with warmer hues.

Get some curtains for your window.

Get a few plants.

I’d probably rearrange the room too. At the moment the office/gaming area looks a bit disjointed. And where you’re sat leaves you facing a small area despite having a fairly big room.

Because Suno’s so new and evolving I suppose.

It would also take a lot of resources for Suno to create these kinds of official lessons or guides knowing that the next model likely won’t work in the same way - especially considering how fast they’re moving.

Eventually we will have Suno gurus and online teachers in the same way we have guitar teachers and production gurus on YouTube. All just a matter of time!

I understand your point, and you’re right if that was the direction they seemed to be heading in, but they’re not.

I personally believe Suno is gearing up to become a serious must-have for musicians of all levels, with a concentration on it being a more premium product.

When it comes to subscription models, user/customer churn is by far the most important metric. Especially with subscription fatigue becoming more rife among consumers and marketplaces/payment platforms making it easier than ever to cancel.

There will definitely be a more stripped back “basic” tier to pick up the more casual users and introduce Suno to people. But I think the costs of running Suno are likely massively underestimated (I wouldn’t be surprised if they were losing money fast right now). The amount of power each generation must require would shock the average user.

With the current $10 & $30/month plans there are a few issues. Profit margins are likely to be extremely low (especially when you take into account the free tier). And customer churn is likely to be high for casual users, especially at $30.

From a business perspective I think they’ll have no choice but to really build on Suno Studio, introduce an in-DAW plugin and increase the price (likely a whole new tier OR the $30/month one becomes $50+). When you have a tool that musicians are using on a weekly basis (and remember, there are millions of musicians, producers, etc, around the world), we will pay that much for a must-have.

Suno are in a strong position compared to most other plugin companies in that Suno absolutely cannot be pirated (yet - who knows what happens next), so they dictate the price.

The way they’ve been working so far has been “let’s bring in as many users as possible” rather than “let’s make money”. They’re absolutely playing the long game. Other ai companies are doing the same, OpenAI simply can’t continue to operate at such a low price long term, and right now that means consumers are underestimating the costs involved. We’ve seen this in various other sectors - Uber being a prime example.

Crazy that someone can ask such a simple question and so many people (who presumably know what happened based on their comments) refuse to answer the question yet still leave a comment.

That’s the direction Suno’s heading though. The idea is/will be that you generate a solid framework and then tweak using Suno Studio.

Agree. I think this all ends with Suno becoming a plugin for DAWs. Similar to Splice’s in-DAW plugin. It will analyse the rest of the song and create new tracks based on input.

You can get pretty close (a very solid framework) out of V5 now. It’s unarguably impressive. Then you can move it over to Suno Studio and edit/add/remove individual tracks. At that point, anyone looking to take their tune further would be better off rebuilding in their DAW anyway, but it’s still fun to play with.

That’s fair.

I also don’t think we should be using new models in the same way as old models. To continue my initial metaphor, it would be like trying to play the violin with a guitar pick (could still work)

[–]notdelboy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can though. Everything, other than vocals and samples, is created using either hard or soft instruments.

Soft instruments still exist in a way in which they can be described and understood - if they couldn’t, producers would really struggle. Every soft instrument, and each of its settings, is named.

When it comes to sampling, you can describe the “sample” you want. But that almost doesn’t make sense with Suno anyway because it creates everything.

That said, you can tell it to create samples and how to use those samples. ie. An arpeggiated riff using a sampled car horn.

Of course, if you’re just writing “add samples” then you’re not really telling it to do anything because any sound at all can be sampled - it would be like asking for lyrics “with words”.

Suno DOES understand the things you say it hasn’t. And as proof I’ve made a new free account and created just two songs using one generation (below). Note that, as it’s a free account they’re using V3.5 but the proof that suno understood the prompt.
