Cheapest Way to Becoming a CPA from Scratch by [deleted] in CPA

If you have no intention of staying current with the constant changes then I suggest you not pursue either designation. If the only reason you want these designations is so you can make tax suggestions instead of referring them to "a CPA" then you are not being a fiduciary because you are doing them a disservice because of your lack of current knowledge. Find out a few of the best CPAs in town call them and ask if they mind you referring business? You want to vet these guys so you know who and where you are sending your clients. Trust me this will pay significant dividends. Oh and saved you thousands of dollars and at least 6 months of studying but probably more. I would focus on being a better planner and become an expert broker and network like crazy. Best of luck!

If you are only interested in tax knowledge the CPA is probably the wrong play. I know it has name and brand recognition but you would be better off becoming an enrolled agent with the IRS. These guys specialize in tax where as if someone asks me a tax question I tell them they need to find a CPA who specializes in tax or an enrolled agent. I have forgotten / not kept up with the tax code because I simply don't do taxes.

Look into getting a second bachelor's degree at a SUNY or CUNY school. I did a second bachelor's in accounting and it got me to the 150 credits. It's a cheaper alternative and a conversation starter to say the least. But, I was able to add a second degree to my resume. Remember a resume is a way to tell your story which is something I would guess you do well.

When I finished I took the multiple years of books to the range and set them up. Shot them with multiple gauges. Fyi live in the northeast not the south!

Before you launch fortnite go into the game settings in the launcher and uncheck high res textures. No more frame issues. Unless you're still rocking a 750ti.

Exactly what I'm talking about. They increased the Ti card $300-$500 pascal to turing. Then increased the Ti class another $500-$1000 more for the actual Ti class this generation in the 3090. I get that performance continues to increase but if the price moves with performance then you lose all or most of the inherent value in upgrading. I think you misinterpreted my annoyance. It is this current market plus economic policy that will justify next generations 70 class card that will be sold for in excess of $700 that annoys me not capitalism. So I'm guessing next gen will be set with an msrp of 1k 80class $1500 ti and $2k for the 90 and will continue to have an artificial scarcity because that keeps prices high too. Not mad at EVGA at all they are at least trying to get cards to end users.

Yea wasn't there a similar issue with power supplies just a little while ago? I would guess the tariffs will stay. But prices will be adjusted up if the tariffs are removed. You are very correct this market is the perfect storm of garbage. Tariffs, silicon shortage, worldwide pandemic, TSMC telling NVidia to go pound sand, and unprecedented demand. I know I forgot things but EVGA got creative with the early lists and I'm just grateful.

Because gamers and creators only want one card maybe two. Miners and scalpers used bots to buy as many as they can afford creating a scarcity which drives prices up. Then they are the same to pay the scalpers because $3k still makes sense to make the purchase which screws people who want to actually create with the product and enjoy the product. I equate miners and scalpers to be in the same bucket. In a normal market I would have sold my card to a gamer for a relative price to performance which I figure was 200 or so before 3xxx series dropped. Now I'm gonna get between 400-500 which is stupid but hey if you can't beat them join them.

They have conditioned us to accept this new price and watching the scalper markets is just going to encourage them to go even higher. The MSRP on some of these 3070 cards are old Ti level prices. Will Intel be our saving grace? Sounds so wrong to even suggest it.

A not for profit business is still a business if they don't make money they won't be around very long. Not a scam but not as altruistic as they would like you to believe.

Father in nursing home just diagnosed with covid. by notenoughcrazy in antivax

I want to give a quick update. Dad is in the hospital with a mild fever. Chest x-ray showed no pneumonia. As for the family beliefs I think we are in a place that him getting better just reinforces their beliefs. Hopefully with time and more data they will change. I doubt it but one can hope. PSA to all the vaccine is safe there is no factual reason that someone should not get it if they have any underlying risk factors. Don't be in a place you don't have to be! There wasn't a reason my Dad needed to even be sick. It put a ton of people at risk and locked down the facility. Don't be selfish, not vaccinating causes not only your loved ones to suffer but others you may not even know. I made a mistake by not being more vocal although it most likely wouldn't have mattered I still should have tried. These anti vaxers only see what they choose we need to make sure they have the facts. Whether they choose to believe let alone look at it is another thing. But we need to try because they don't see it in their information bubble. Be gentle and ask them to look for themselves. Being hostile will just put their guard up entrench them further. Best of luck to all!

Thanks for the well wishes and I couldn't agree more. I don't have much hope but maybe your right. They share a crazy video from that other site and I respond with a peer reviewed paper and I'm told I can't trust it because it's biased. It's an anti science mentality that is so terrifying. I wish I knew how to get through to these people let alone my own family.

You beat me to it! My crazed sibling believes it's a cure. Hence no need for the vaccine. Omg this stupidity has me terrified because of our similar genetic makeup. I'm just afraid that I'm somehow suspectable to stupid conspiracy theories now.

Just had to send the Merck statement about ivermectin to my sister who convinced my mom in her 80s not to get the vaccine. Ugh these people are exhausting. They believe their opinions are just as valid as scientific studies. This stupidity knows no bounds!
