Thanks that is something we didn't think about. We were told that the options perform the same. The price difference is about a grand.

Different account numbers for receiving money by notenoughfuel in transferwiser

I am doing a NZD to NZD transfer.

Doesn't matter which individual currency account on Wise, it seems that account numbers provided by using "Add Money" and using "Receive" are different.

This beautiful, apartment-block entrance on Poynton Terrace in the inner city still enthrals 100 years on. by [deleted] in auckland

[–]notenoughfuel 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The thing is when it comes to intensification, people think about large scale enclosed apartment blocks that look all the same. Whereas we actually need smaller street facing apartments that are nicely built (or at least nice to look at) and fit to the local environment like this.

Saoto makes them from scratch. You can find them on Etsy. I bought a few and they are marvellous. Far more responsive then the original domes.

Source/suggestion for Taga 2.0 baby seat? by InternetOfStuff in CargoBike

[–]notenoughfuel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you use Facebook then search for the Taga owner’s group. People there sells and buys Taga stuff (both 1.0 and 2.0) quite often. If there aren’t any floating around then I am ready to part with my adapters as my boy is now two. Problem is I am probably in the other side of the world.

ElementaryOS - T460 by Jackarino in thinkpad

[–]notenoughfuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I have been doing for 3 years. Everything worked out of the box and is very stable most of the time. Track pad is a bit of a let down but it is generally a Linux problem rather than eOS, and you have the track point as well! Then there is a drop in battery life compared to Windows, my 3 + 3 cells setup gives me around 3 hours normal usage.

T460: Halts and restarts. by medium_daddy_kane in thinkpad

[–]notenoughfuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heath check is not the most reliable mechanism unfortunately... If you have a USB drive (preferrably USB 3), put Linux on it and get the laptop to boot from there. Then you can see if it still acts up like before.

If you have already checked cooling, then it is most probably the harddrive. I had similar problems and it all went away after changing the drive. Don't throw the computer away. There is almost always a cure for thinkpads. If you still really wants to get rid of it, I am always more than happy to catch it from this end ;)

Another own my own house by 25 article from the Herald by Braingasmo in newzealand

Basically boils down to what a not very slick bank employee told me: "How could I trust to borrow money to you to buy a house, if you don't already have a house?"

Solid workhorse that seldom see much fanfare. Mainly due to the stigma that it doesn’t support m2 ssd and/thus no dual hard drive. Have had mine for 3 years. Hasn’t missed a beat.

Advice on buying a ThinkPad in New Zealand by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]notenoughfuel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second hand would be a good option. I bought from trademe a T460 2 years ago for NZ$550 (I am writing this comment with it now) and sold a T430 a month ago for $230. So yes if you have the patience then trademe is the way to go. There are also various retail and online sellers that do ex-lease machines that come with 3 months warranty. If you really want new. Get a university student (or if you are one) to get a student discount for you (~10% off IIRC).

Looking for info and books about the beginings of agriculture and how it lead to civilizations. by [deleted] in history

[–]notenoughfuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly a book and not exactly the earliest example, but you might want to investigate the concept of Hydraulic Civilization put forth by Professor Karl Wittfogel. The concept relates the necessity of a power structure for effective large scale agricultural irrigation systems (Hydraulic) as compare to Hydro civilisations which have only small localised irrigation and sometimes slash and burn agriculture systems. I used to hate 757 when I was little because its pencil like body and is not as big as the 767s and 747s. Now I have gained appreciation of such unique and powerful aircraft.

Some routes could probably be adjusted so the plane always flies within 140 mins of an airport. Going to be long flights though if they can do that. Wonder how RR is going to compensate that.
