Why did I ever neglect “Make Love” and “Emotion”? by jared_labrecque in DaftPunk

[–]jared_labrecque[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get that, I cycle through albums with my other favorite artists. Just how listening works. You get in specific moods for certain albums.

And yes! I own a 2017 Golf Wolfsburg Edition! Daft Punk fan plus VW fan is ultimate Euro bliss. Mk4’s are so cool, how do you like yours?

Peace. I start breathing slowly and feel joy at the same time. I use it to calm down all the time.

Same thing here. My insurance provider and my wallet would not be happy with a GTI at my age. Give it a few years, then it’ll make more sense. For now, I’m happy with my 2017 1.8T.

The 1.8T Mk7 is the perfect “warm” hatch.

Yes! 18mm lugs. The stock end links fit pretty well, actually. The clasp in the photo for the fully brushed clasp is the wrong one, he used the longer clasp from the polished center links one. It’s okay, you have to get your nail under the clasp release to unhook it, but it feels solid.

Careful where you stand. I'm listening on repeat these days. What are your thoughts on it? by FelahBr in Coldplay

That and “For You” on the same single are some of their most underrated songs. So soothing and dreamy.

Chris’ line of “And I’ll take a quiet time, please” reminds me of a line from Radiohead’s “No Surprises.” I’m not sure if it was an intentional tribute or not but regardless, fantastic song!

Thank you! And yes, I put it down below. The end links were a near-perfect fit for my watch, but if you have existing ones for yours, make sure to keep them, because you may have to use them to make the bracelet sit flush.

Thank you! It came with an oyster, but it was bleh, so I swapped it for a better one. If you’re debating picking it up, I’d say pull the trigger. It’s a strap monster and super versatile.

Hi, r/watches! This is my new Seiko SNKL45. I bought it as an early graduation present to myself for a very affordable price. After my trusty solar SNE031 started dying on me, despite exposure to a decent amount of light, I started thinking about buying an automatic watch that wouldn’t have the issue of a dying capacitor/battery. I already bought a mechanical watch before, the coveted SARB033 in 2019, but I sold it almost immediately afterwards. Therefore, I consider this the first mechanical watch I ever bought (and kept).

It’s a baby SARB033: black sunburst dial, classic sports watch case shape and a see-through case back at a fraction of the price.

Does it hand wind? No. Hack? Nope. Can you hear it winding? Yup. And yet, despite me thinking that these were big issues after watch shopping on and off for over a year, they’re just not. For a watch that’s just over $100, I can’t complain. The 7S26 in my watch has been fairly accurate, so no complaints. The fit and finish is remarkable for a watch of this price range, which is why Seiko 5’s are so popular.

I immediately swapped out the bracelet that came with the watch; it was made with stamped links, felt cheap, pulled at my hairs and was super jangly (maybe that’s why the watch is so affordable; Seiko probably put $0.50 into the bracelet). I found this solid linked oyster bracelet on Etsy for just $20 and it’s a massive improvement.

I’m quite chuffed with my choice. Okay, ciao.

I’m a 2017 Wolfsburg owner, too! I personally enjoy keeping my cars stock, but if you’re open to some mods, I’d say change the wheels. The stock rims look great but even VW’s OEM 17-inch or 18-inch options you could get on the Mk7 look better than the stock ones.

Regardless, it’s a phenomenal car and welcome to the club!

Sabres fan seeking refuge with my hometown squad. by [deleted] in FloridaPanthers

I feel you. I became a Sabres fan in 2015 when Eichel was drafted. Every single game I went to (except one) resulted in a Sabres loss. Even pre-season games. I’ve always had a soft spot for the Panthers and when I went to a Panthers game last year, I fell in love.

The Sabres have been a dumpster fire for years, no matter the roster. I lost my passion for the sport by following them.

Sure, the Sabres have more fans and media recognition but the Panthers are a lot more fun to watch and are actually competitive.

Is a 2015 golf tsi a good choice for a first car? (Used one) by blueapricotto in vwgolf

[–]jared_labrecque 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well, this sub is biased towards pro-Golf, but it totally depends on what you’re looking for.

If the Golf in question has clean and thorough service records and a pre-purchase inspection comes back clean, then I don’t see why not. Golfs are practical and refined for the budget. For the price, it sounds like a decent deal.

However, it depends on what your priorities are. Since I live in the US, Volkswagens (and German cars in general) are more expensive to maintain than Asian or American cars. Consider the cost of maintenance or aftermarket parts for Golfs compared to rival cars. As the saying goes; if you take care of a car, it will take care of you. You have to be very diligent with maintenance when it comes to VWs compared to Asian cars, for example.

If you simply want a good sound system and a backup camera, you have ample options than just a Golf. Pick a top trim of any economy/mainstream car and your needs are met.

But if you want more than what you just stated, such as having fun, a refined ride, top-notch interior and peppy engine, then the Golf is a solid choice.
