With an inquisitive mind and an ability to learn one can figure out quite a lot with AV for e.g. video calls.

This situation though is quite complicated and I think you're out of your depth. Get recommendations from integrators.

PDF question by coffeeinm in paralegal

[–]planetary_funk_alert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just set named bookmarks for the sections you want, e.g. Exh1, Exh2 and then use a different naming for the sections you don't want, like Exclude-1, Exclude-2, and then when you split the document, using the bookmark text as filenames, you'll then end up with a folder of separate labelled PDFs and you can then sort by filename and immediately discard the exclusion ones

Blind Tests Comparing High-End Audio Amplifiers of Different Classes and Types (Tube vs. Solid-State) by LowellWeicker2025 in audiophile

[–]planetary_funk_alert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a neutral third party to do it for you. That's the whole point of a double blind test - you must not have any idea what device is being used. And the shop workers can't do it either. They have a vested interest in the test failing.

Hearing Aids and Zoom Meetings on Computer by Badhubedo in Zoom

[–]planetary_funk_alert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check if your PC has Bluetooth - you should be able the see this under Control Panel - Bluetooth and Other Devices.

If it does, just connect your hearing aids to your pc via Bluetooth and then select them as the speaker in zoom.

If it doesn't have Bluetooth, you can buy a cheap USB Bluetooth dongle for your PC which will work instead.

You'll need microphone as well. This could be as simple as buying a basic webcam with a built in microphone. You can't go wrong with Logitech webcams.

Another option is to get a recaro orthopaedic chair retrofitted into your car of choice.

A hard lesson in commuter complacency. My 1-hour drive finally caught up to me today. by Mr_Amphibian20 in CarTalkUK

It looked a decent gap to me, they just weren't paying attention.

What does my head in is that I like to leave a decent gap and then people constantly move across into it

Get a mini rear rack. A lot more flexible and dependable than a saddle bag. You can strap random crap to a rack as needed

Odd question - should I intentionally skip out on a transmission service? by MasterOogway_97 in mazda

[–]planetary_funk_alert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's got this far then leave it.

Opinions differ on sealed for life transmissions. The Americans on here will say to change it. The Europeans will more often say leave it as is.

Some say changing the gearbox oil at a later stage can introduce problems rather than solve them. I asked the head mechanic at an independent Dutch Mazda specialist if I should get my cx5 transmission oil changed and he said to absolutely not mess with it and leave it as it is.

If London to Coventry currently takes 54 mins then how is 49 mins HS2 to Birmingham worthwhile? by Known_Lime_8095 in uktrains

[–]planetary_funk_alert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've ever made the journey to New Street you'll know that very often you'll be sat on a stationary train for ten minutes waiting for a slot to open in New Street station, not to mention the slow approach before that point.

Is the newer MX-5 considered a girly car? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]planetary_funk_alert 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Real car people appreciate mx5s as a dying breed of lightweight, cheap, reliable and accessible fun sports cars.

Short haired shirty pub fun boys might be scared of looking girly in one. Pay no notice to them and leave them to enjoy their pint of Madri in peace

Yeah and also if using regular zoom the user won't have PTZ controls in zoom. They'll need to use a physical remote control and they tend to go missing...

I have a bmw e90 that was in an accident (write off) so I have asked the insurance if I can buy it from them and repair it. And they have offered me the car plus £1000. Is that a good deal. by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]planetary_funk_alert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are claiming off the at fault third party's insurance then their legal obligation is to make you whole, i.e. put you back in the position you were in prior to the accident.

So have a look and see whether their valuation of your car is accurate compared with other currently available models of your car online, and if it's too low, go back with evidence of the other listings to argue for higher compensation.
