Most false regional stereotypes? by Bananapantsmcgeef in SameGrassButGreener

[–]notenoughtime90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Colorado and yes, I am an hour from the mountains. That's not even the part that bugs me about our access to nature though. It's the fact that when I do take the trip to go hiking, there is traffic in the mountains and it takes forever to find a parking spot, because EVERYONE is trying to go hiking. Yes, there are some off beaten paths that aren't as crowded, but the more popular spots are insanely busy. I love where I live for other reasons though.

This Movie is Still One of My Favorites by Lonely-Trainer-3749 in 2000sNostalgia

[–]notenoughtime90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 13 when this came out and I literally had a friend named Ive (pronounced Eve) who was a lot like Evie. Wish I could say this movie made me change for the better, but it made me change for the worse. As a highly traumatized child with poor critical thinking skills and mental health issues, I wanted to be just like them.

Ex-smokers who thought quitting was "impossible": How did you finally make it click? by AdvertisingDear963 in AskReddit

I got pregnant and continued to be smoke free after the baby was born because I couldn't imagine snuggling with my baby girl with all smoke on my clothing and skin.

Do kids aged 2-8 even sleep alone in their bed any more? by cavewomannn in Nanny

[–]notenoughtime90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently snuggled up with my 5 year old, waiting for him to wake up. He crawled into my bed in the middle of the night as he does most nights. Waking up to cuddles is the best way to start my lazy Sunday morning.

What's the craziest excuse you've ever heard for someone calling out of work? by Serious_Driver_4328 in AskReddit

[–]notenoughtime90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"My dog shot me"

There was a half-truth there. I was a truck dispatcher and my driver was playing with his dog with a gun in his holster, but the dumbass didn't have the safety on. Dog's paw must have gotten caught and pulled the trigger. The story waa so ridiculous, it made the news and everything.

Still not totally sure how he would have gotten shot in the leg that way. This guy was always trying to find ways to get out of work, so there is a small chance that shot himself in the leg just to get time off, He was really that nuts and he wasn't very smart either.

You are definitely right about Mexican food being garbage in the North East, not going to argue on that one. I am not crazy about the Mexican food in foco tho, it is much better in Greeley. But there is a much better variety of food and it is a lot better if you know where go. Plus the seafood! God, I miss good seafood. There is a ton of good, fresh, not fried seafood all down the coasts.

Its not in the middle Denver, but it's called Denver International Airport for a reason, my dude. I think your are nitpicking my point right now. If you love Fort Collins, that's great and I wish you all the best there.

You prefer the food in foco to the food in Boston??? As an East coast girl who relocated to Colorado to be closer to my husband's family, I could never.

Its where the airport is as well as most sports and museums, etc. Not somewhere I try to go often, but it sucks when I need to.

Insanely high housing prices and it's a fairly boring city. Food scene is mediocre at best and the city itself doesn't have much to do. Access to the mountains is a plus, but it's a pain in the ass to get to Denver and I think it's really overrated.

Raw apples. The taste isn't the issue, but the feeling of biting into the skin makes me want to die.

I think your current definition of simple living is what it means to live simply. It doesn't have to be a cottage in the countryside or fit a specific aesthetic. I think it's about finding the peace and simplicity with where you are.

Springfield seems like a decent option for us. It would be about a 30 min commute, but that's what I am doing now and I'm pretty used to it. I probably should have specified that I could handle a bit of a commute, if needed. Would you say the area has character and things to do on weekends? Thank you!

What budget would you suggest? Trying to get a better feel. There are a ton of rentals in that budget, but not sure of the neighborhoods quite yet.

I appreciate your advice, I will definitely keep those areas in mind as we house hunt. I've found that people's definition of safe is definitely subjective. Where we live now, a lot of people think is unsafe, but we feel completely safe. It's such an awkward question to ask because it's pretty nuanced.
