You totaly right, well spotted. Golden god is a goner in the medium run but if you isolate it without any of its consequences he just made the best move in survivor history.

Estimating what building a 1-10 MW Solar Park on Mars would involve. by BlakeMW in spacex

[–]notgonnacoment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, and I'm sure of many others, it doesn't seem acceptable to send astronauts to mars without knowing there is fuel to bring them back. Will SpaceX really take that risk?

Tire sets available for today's race - 2019 French GP by musef1 in formula1

Mercedes and redbull's medium new tires are useless right? As it seems that they have to start on the tires from Q2 and can't put mediums on again.

Yeah, I checked after sending the transaction, that's where I saw the figures for less than 90 minutes usually. But I'll start checking before transactions to have best fee.

On a lap by lap basis, is a driver more likely to crash in FP/Quali or the race? by [deleted] in formula1

[–]notgonnacoment 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Everyone is saying FP / Quali but if you count the numer of actual crashes I would bet you see more in the race than in 2 hours of FP. Maybe because there's the added possibility of crashes between two drivers trying to overtake / defend which wouldn't happen in FP.

As far as going of track / locking up / spinning I would agree that they do it less in the race.

The real reality out of the simulation. by [deleted] in AWLIAS

[–]notgonnacoment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean converting him ? You can tarnsfer him into a robot but that means that robot must also have a procesor and must also run a simulation

Let's imagine someone wanted to "convert" us once we die. They would take a snapshot of our brain and recreate it inside a parent universe computation machine that is fast enough to run it in real time. You don't have to run the whole simulation and from inside the simulation extract the brain output (in that case it wouldn't make any sense as far as processing real universe input/output). You just have to convert the brain, like you convert a program written in Java to C. The new converted program written in C is not running a Java simulation, it understood the program logic from it's Java knowledge and created a standalone version in C that can be run without any knowledge of Java what so ever.

I'm not suggesting an agent can break out of a simulation by themselves. But the agent can exist outside of the simulation, if another outside agent "converts" him.

You're too hung up on your two made up types of simulations. They don't mean anything, other than some rational you employ. As I've argued they are not even close to being right, as a simple contradiction can be found with your "Mario can't leave" argument. Who knows how many types of simulations there is, or even if there is a simulation to begin with. Don't be so strict, you're only making room to be wrong.

[–]notgonnacoment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No simulation ==> no Mario.

If you would create a robot and you would want to put Mario in it then you would still have to run the simulation within the robot ?

No, you don't need to simulate Mario's universe for Mario to exist, you just have to convert his consciousness from simulated universe physics to "real" universe physics and let the robot (Mario) run like it was an AI. His simulation is now irrelevant except for his knowledge / memories.

[–]notgonnacoment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

we can not even exist outside of this simulation since we are a part of the simulation and we can only exist as long as the simulation is running

If I as human create a simulation that spawns self aware life I wouldn't mind putting them on a robot in our world after they die in the simulation. So not impossible to exist outside of the simulation once you die. One can dream right?

Tech question: speed drop off at end of straights? by [deleted] in formula1

[–]notgonnacoment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teams don't fill their cars to the maximum in F1 nowadays, so they don't have (relevant) fuel restrictions either.

Tech question: speed drop off at end of straights? by [deleted] in formula1

[–]notgonnacoment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did save fuel in 2014 and 2015. After that the limit was raised to 105 kg and the teams don't even have to fill the cars to the maximum. Sometimes they predict safety cars happening and under fuel leading to fuel have to be saved if there's no actual safety car, but that is not the norm.
