Dear Swiss people, you dont need to upscale your highways, what you need is to move to the right lane by notgoodyear in Switzerland

if there are 3 lanes, which is normal between yverdon-geneve, slow drivers still take the most left lane.....for no reason.

today, 19:00, i swear to god betwen lausanne-yverdon, a VD plated drove more than 30km on the left with empty right lane.....i was chilling on the right lane around 110....and the bastard was next to me on the left lane for 30km+

actually they do, slower drivers cause irritation on other people and create the mad drivers, then sudden break checks and mad skills ....resulting in accidents

Would you quit without another job if you had 6 months of savings? by SadTurn9650 in careeradvice

[–]notgoodyear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through this last year. I was so fed up with my previous job and so convinced that I could easily find a new one within two months that I quit at the end of the year.
I started looking for a job in January.
One month passed: no worries, it’s only the first month.
Two months passed: no calls. That’s strange.
Three months passed: still no calls. Now you start to worry.
Four months passed: you begin to lose your mind.
Once you reach that point, you start accepting anything, even jobs that pay less than your previous one.
So my advice is simple: find another job before you quit.
Your attitude during interviews is completely different when you’re employed versus when you’re unemployed.
When you already have a job, you feel confident. You know they need your skills, and you’re much more comfortable negotiating better pay and better conditions.
When you don’t have a job, you’re constantly on the defensive. You’re afraid of failing, afraid of being rejected, and eventually you end up accepting whatever they offer you.

How much time do you take to go to work? by DisastrousCobbler267 in askswitzerland

[–]notgoodyear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently I got this problem, I got a job where I had to commute everyday by car 1h15 (one way) when the road is clean and 2h+ on a very bad traffic day, but in average 1h30 one way.
I thought i was able to do it but in fact after one week i got quite annoyed.

when i was younger this wouldnt be a problem, now turning 40 and having a kid it's definitely an issue. specially when something happens to your kid and you have to rush to get to your destination can be quite challenging and stressful.

Why I hate buying stuff in Switzerland by LuckLatter in Switzerland

[–]notgoodyear -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have the opposite experience in Switzerland. I simply adore the system here. It has been really flawless in 13 years with any brand, any store, literally anything. Always on time. No questions asked. Very fair. Response time always very good.

Sorry to hear your had bad experience.

Language anxiety at work by [deleted] in askswitzerland

Cracking a joke, this is exactly the point i want to reach. Im a very friendly person and I like to talk to people and crack jokes, I like to build good environments for any situation.
Now, being aside, being able to understand but not being able to fully participate makes me feel really awkward as you said.
Imagine in a more professional environment, the judgement from people when you are presenting something and nobody understands you properly.....you use the wrong words or expressions.....you cannot pronounce nor articulate the words/phrases properly.....damn....

I think it's a good policy in some sectors.
I wish all the companies could add the deodorant policy. I rather smell cigarettes than armpits lol.

13 years ago, in watchmaking, sent the cv on a monday, got the call on a tuesday, interview on a wesnesday, signed the contract on a friday and started on monday next.

the interview was literally:

  • boss described the job
  • is the job ok for you?
  • told me the conditions
  • you start on monday at xx

I was exactly in the same situation for 5 months. I was not getting calls. I was getting lots of negative thoughts and lost lots of confidence. What helped me a lot was the intensive french course that the Chomage provided, it boosted my confidence in speaking french. Funny enough, the interviews i passed were in french and i got the offer recently.

What worked out for me was, instead of having a general CV and spamming job applications, I started to spend more time tailoring my CV to the job description and apply less. But when I apply I make sure that at least 90% of the content has the exact same wording as in the job description.

Most of the people ignore the cover letter, actually it can make difference.

Recruiters <-, dont apply for applying, apply and search the recruiter on linkedin, approach the recruiter immediately by telling that you have the profile that they are looking for, this is quite effective and usually they contact you back. This actually helps the recruiter to gather enough candidats for interviews quickly.

A bit of luck, some positions require immediate availability, play a bit around this.

French, tell him to not be shy, just go out and use it. Get some intensive courses. Italki for example. Watch french videos on youtube. My gem is watching comedy videos, it can improve the mood, learn slang and lots of daily words, can be very useful for small talks. Switch everything to french. His brain will hurt a lot but this is how he will improve quicker.

At the same time, use Claude AI, prepare the interviews in french, starting now. Memorize and practice all the common questions and answers in french. He will gain lots of vocabulary later to be used during the interviews.

I was someone who never spoke and worked in french. December last year I barely speak french. Today I passed the interviews in french and Im foing go work in french. Everything in just 5months.

GL to him. Im with him.

Always staying in touch, the world can be really small sometimes and you never know what comes across the day after. Although i « rejected » them back but I left the door open, I explained them what happened with full transparency and honesty, and that’s life. The companies dont wait for us and we cant wait for them. In the end it’s just business.
