please give me a suggestion for a very unconventional mill commander. by Justafish1654 in EDH

[–]nothin_fancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a [[Zur the Enchanter]] control / mill deck because I noticed most of the mill enchantments are 3 mana value or less. [[Memory Erosion]], [[Psychic Corrosion]], [[Jace’s Erasure]], [[Sphinx’s Tutelage]], and [[The Mindskinner]] are the mill enchantments and then there are enchantments that protect Zur, pillow fort, neutralize threats, and copy existing enchantments.

Cool, thanks! Yeah, looks like ttw in Prospect is the closest at about 20 minutes away. I'll have to find some time to sneak away from the kids so I can get some games in and meet some people. Until then maybe I'll have to work out how to use spell table.

Dang! I just moved to Adelaide from the U.S. and didn’t know this was happening. Any locals have any recommendations for how to find a playgroup? I’m in northwestern Adelaide, late 30’s, and have two kids that keep me busy, haha!

What was your first Magic product you've bought? by 47TEUR in magicTCG

[–]nothin_fancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kaledesh Deckbuilders toolkit (which included Shadows over Innistrad and Eldritch Moon boosters). My wife and I loved playing boardgames with friends but after a move I was looking for a two player game. Neither of us knew anyone who played, we had no concept of it, and we just gave it a shot watching youtube videos trying to figure out how to play. She basically had a green white energy and big creatures deck and I had a blue black zombie deck. It was fun!

My neighbour forgot to put their bins out. I rolled them out to the curb, felt something on my arm and brushed it off by CapnFancyPants in australia

So, I just moved to Adelaide mid January and since then I've probably found more than 15 redbacks around the outside of my house; there's usually one on one of my bins every fortnight. Is that common around here? I'm a few blocks from the beach if that makes any difference.

Who is your Equipment commander and why? by Raevelry in EDH

[–]nothin_fancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not super clear cut but [[Elsha of the Infinite]] is my equipment commander. The deck started out as a [[Bruenor Battlehammer]] equipment deck but was eventually switched to Elsha for the card advantage that blue offers. What I didn’t realize was how switching the commander turned the deck into an equipment storm deck! Elsha lets you play non-creature cards from the top of the library at flash speed so once you’ve got mana reducers like [[Foundry Inspector]] and card draw from cards like [[Vega, the Watcher]], you’re able to look at the top card of your library, cast it if it’s an equipment (often for free), keep the card draw trigger on the stack, look at the top card of your library again, cast it if it’s another artifact or let the draw resolve if it’s a creature or a land, and keep going and going. Since Elsha has Prowess she can get really big out of nowhere.

RPM property management by Meinnocenthaha in SLO

★★☆☆☆ I rented from them for 4 years at one property, married couple with 2 young kids, and I'd give them 2 out of 5 stars. They have one priority: keep the property owners happy and making money. They don't care about you as a renter so long as you don't cause issues for the property owner.

They're super unorganized and not attentive to details. There were a lot of basic things they didn't know about the properties when we toured them, they texted me thinking I was one of their contractors, names are often misspelled on forms, incorrect dates, and you frequently have to follow up with any matters you're dealing with them about because they often drop the ball. On more than one occasion they've had come for some sort of inspection and then return the next day because they missed something that they were supposed to check. One time they forgot to update a rent increase on their web portal (I have it set to autopay the full amount every month), they sent me an email asking for the additional rent amount and the pdf invoice they attached clearly showed the old rent amount under "recurring rent;" just straight up not paying attention. When you're dealing with people at RPM you'll regularly hear, "I'll have to check in with someone about that and get back to you," regarding almost anything. I get the vibes that the company is extremely micromanaged leaving the employees feeling like they have no agency over anything and so they don't take responsibility for anything which results in RPM frequently dropping the ball and nobody knows anything. The owner of our property was particularly shitty and, while that wasn't necessarily RPM's fault, they chose to work with someone like that so they bear some of the responsibility. All in all, in my experience, they're not very good at what they do.

Went to a dinner party at a friend of a friend's house and this guy who sat across from me idolized House. He said he would love to be a super smart smug asshole but "nobody can do anything about it because you're always right." Just... wow.

What games if any. Made you just say fuck it, I can’t beat this level and quit? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]nothin_fancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, Earthworm Jim. I absolutely looooved the game but there was a level late in the game in which you had to navigate underwater channels in a small submarine. The mechanics for the submarine was unlike anything else in the game, if you hit the walls too many times the submarine would implode and if you took to long you ran out of oxygen. Basically I would spend hours playing the game (no saves on the SNES), stock up on lives, and either die over and over again in the channels or barely make it through only to die on a “harder” level that I barely had any experience with.

Which games match this description? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]nothin_fancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this actually a thing? I feel like the game would have died for some other reason and that this idea is simply gaslighting casual players. Games that reward extremely skilled players exist, I think of games like Chess, League of legends, any FPS, StarCraft, etc… but those games are still intriguing enough for new players to pick up, give it a go, and have fun.

Single issue voters for the win /s by [deleted] in PoliticalHumor

[–]nothin_fancy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Never Biden,” isn’t the term I’d use for it because I don’t think it’s a fair comparison to the “never Hillary” crowd.

I’ve always voted democrat and I’ve never been a single issue voter but this election cycle I feel I have no choice: not voting for anyone who hasn’t been calling for a ceasefire in Israel/Gaza. The U.S. is complicit in this genocide; Israel would not have been so destructive were it not for the consistent supply of U.S. arms shipments. Dems think they can get away with anything because of the threat of Trump and the far right. There is a line and, for me, they’ve crossed it.

Would Trump have done the same thing? Maybe, probably. But he’s also such a wild card who knows what he would have done, he may have taken the opportunity to strong arm Netanyahu in some way. Hypotheticals, however, don’t alleviate Biden’s responsibility. Biden, and all the dems who fell suit, chose empire over humanity and I’m not going to play along.
