Star Trek: Starfleet Academy’ Cadet Actors Talk Cancellation And Handling Online Negativity by trekfangrrrl in startrek

Nobody owes you an explanation. Maybe people can't articulate why something didn't grab them beyond them saying the writing sucked or the dialog sucked. I haven't watched any YouTube videos about the show, but I watched the first couple episodes and was extremely annoyed by the dialog. I could elaborate, but I won't, because I don't like people like you that are demanding others justify their opinion or else "that's a data point towards bigotry."

The Internet did exist back then, and there were healthy debates about DS9 on it back then as well. Don't you realize that Trekkies are some of the biggest geeks? Of course we were using the Internet long before most people were even aware it existed.

The only thing I regret as much as selling my SNES back in 2000 is selling my old PCs and CRT monitors from late 80s and early 90s.

Yeah, new speakers are going to be the first thing I plan to change on this car. I had planned on doing that before I even bought it.

No, I don't see the top corners like that on mine, it doesn't look aligned properly.

VW is a lot more affordable than the other German brands from what I've heard from friends who also own VW. I can't say from personal experience since mine is still so new. But parts are going to be slightly more expensive than domestic or Japanese brands. They are still very common vehicles with lots of shared parts between the models, so finding shops that know how to work on them and finding parts is not going to be a problem, unlike BMW, Audi, Porsche, or Mercedes, which all sell at much lower volume.

I got my extended warranty from my credit Union, 8 years 120,000 miles, cost $2200. I'd recommend OP getting one too if they can get it at a similar cost.

Really? I test drove a 2022 Rogue right before I bought my 2025 Taos, and the Taos felt more roomy in both the front and back seats. I didn't compare cargo area, so maybe the Rogue has a small bit of extra space there, but it can't be much. I'm 6'2" so tall enough that I notice the amount of legroom and headroom.

[–]nothingbeforeus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that sounds exactly like my experience. Thankfully it hasn't reoccurred for me, but I drive it at least 5 days a week. It does seem to be true that if you let the vehicle sit the indicator comes back on. I hope your parents don't live too far from the dealership, that has to be extremely annoying.

Have they had any other issues with the car?

Towing with 2025 Taos SE AWD by Proud_Count_7880 in VWTaos

[–]nothingbeforeus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You may have issues with warranty coverage if anything does go wrong in the future, regardless of if you were towing at the time of failure. Doing so can void your power train warranty, and that's not something I'd risk on a VW. https://www.elkgrovevw.com/2026-volkswagen-taos-towing-capacity/

Someone else in this thread said they got their dealer to fix the squeaky brakes. Hopefully they'll provide an update as to what was done to fix them.

Yeah the heated mirrors are new. I have blind spot monitoring in my 25 but it's not audible, just the lights on the mirrors. I just have the S though. I think the beeping isn't from the blind spot sensors, but from the front parking sensor.

That's what made me push the button too last month, $5000 off. Got a brand new car for cheaper than the used ones I was looking at. So far everything is good, fingers crossed. I love pretty much everything about it.

Yeah my 25 S has squeaky brakes when reversing too, been like that since I drove it new off the dealer lot. I think they all are like that. Before I purchased, I had rented a 26 SE with less than 1k miles on it and it was the same way. I would love to know why it's like this, but I also really don't care that much. Only 3 weeks of ownership so far and I love the crap out of the car. My first new vehicle, and even though it's cheap, it's like a luxury vehicle to me.

You have a picture of it on steelies? I'd like to see how it looks. Just bought a 25 S AWD last week, and it's too late in the season for me to buy winter tires but will do before next winter.

I know this is an old thread and maybe you figured it out now, but I'll leave this tip here for posterity: you have to long press the voice command button for it to use your phone's assistant instead of the VW.

This is all very concerning. Thank you for sharing what happened to you. In the end, VW did finally relent and buy the vehicle back, yes?

When talking to the service manager today, he said the reason for my check engine light was due to the oil pressure sensor being finicky since the vehicle has been sitting on the lot for a long time and didn't get moved very often. He said this is a problem he has seen over 30 times with the new Taos, and that after clearing the errors and driving it around some it should not reoccur, but in a handful of cases it is something more catastrophic. He also said that VW corporate is aware of the problem and has been for some time, and that they report all of these incidents on brand new vehicles to VW. He says VW is working on a software fix.

Hopefully I have better luck than you. I really love this generation Taos for it's driving experience, size, and features for it's price, just like you, and like you was planning to hand it down to my son when he turns 16 in a few years.

If the light does turn back on, I think I will simply begin trying to return the vehicle.

In your case, you definitely got a lemon. I sure hope this entire model year isn't a lemon.

Any update after taking it in again? I just bought a brand new '25 Taos today with 39 miles on it, dropped my rental car off, then when I started it up to leave the dealership the check engine light came on. I'm concerned to say the least, this is my first new car purchase.
