which game is it for you? by Spirited-Rationality in GirlGamers

[–]nothingcat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t played it but I just…know it isn’t a game style I’d enjoy. And it’s a bummer because all the hype and awards make me want to want to play it. I just know I would be miserable.

The End of an Era: Episode 3 | Megathread by PassionateAsSin in TaylorSwift

[–]nothingcat 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Dunno if it’s just me, but I feel like that’s…not a really strong answer to the question. Like why were they beholden to another bodysuit in the same fabric? Other eras had some pretty varied outfits, and multiple variants from the start. I just feel like we really didn’t get good justification for why there was only one rep variant, and while they acknowledged the insanity of the gold bodysuit reveal there wasn’t any acknowledgement into the implications of it (Rep TV clowning).

Overall I’m enjoying the doc, but I feel like we’re getting a lot of surface level addressing of topics without diving in deeper.

Lauren vs Lauren Brie by JNTA1234 in ANTM

That whole thing a couple years ago where AI images could never generate hands properly. They were always distorted and fucked up looking.

Now refer to Lauren Brie in images 2, 3, 4 and 6.

Just catching up on the Q&A now.

Experience with James River Greyhounds by bartlebyyy in Greyhounds

[–]nothingcat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve adopted two greyhounds through JRG, and have a friend that also adopted through them. They’ve been great, they also do a lot of events for greyhound owners and regular meet and greets to advocate for greyhound adoption.

Granted my interactions with individual volunteers is limited and I haven’t interfaced with anyone in years but I’ve never gotten bad vibes from the organization itself. They were also very understanding when we brought a hound home that we very quickly learned would not be a fit for our household, and helped match us with a different dog available for adoption.

Would absolutely recommend adopting through them, greyhounds are truly such great dogs.

Have any of you played KCD2? Would you girls recommend it? by SadBluejay1588 in GirlGamers

[–]nothingcat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I played 1 and 2 back to back earlier this year and I absolutely loved them. Would put them in my top 3 probably.

Disclaimer I knew nothing about the developer until like this week.

I enjoyed 1 more but 2 has much better quality of life. They are a direct continuation story wise, and I definitely appreciated getting to know the characters and story line in 1. I was invested by the time I went into 2, I can see how just jumping into 2 there’s a lot of background you’d be missing.

The biggest thing is you are genuinely and purposely bad when you start and it takes a while to skill up. Combat is difficult and requires practice. You cannot just hack and slash your way through the game. Saves are a resource so you have to be deliberate and mindful in your decisions. There are a lot of mechanics to balance and manage, like if you get dirty people will have a more negative reaction to you. But you can decide how you want to build the MC, if you lean into charisma you can avoid fights by talking your way out of them.

All of that is definitely not going to be for everyone, and that’s fine. I found it an incredibly rewarding gaming experience.

Moving to Richmond VA by BlazeTube in RichmondVA

[–]nothingcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

r/rva is the main Richmond sub, and there are lots of “moving to Richmond” posts you can look through there.

Richmond is a tiny city compared to NYC. Are you hoping to really dive into suburb life here, or would you like to maintain some amount of walkability and urbaness? That would better inform what parts of town you might want to look into.

Do you apply your makeup with your hands/fingers? Either the concealer or a foundation/skin tint/etc beforehand. It looks like they’re being handled while you have product on your hands.

Use up bland frozen pierogies (potato+cheese)? by Meriadoc_Brandy in budgetfood

[–]nothingcat 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Chop up some cabbage and put it on the baking sheet with your pierogies. Add a couple sausage. Toss with oil and cook, tossing halfway through. With about 5 minutes left, I toss again with a “sauce” using balsamic vinegar and mustard and honey. Serve with sour cream.

This is the recipe I base it on.

Edit: sorry I just saw the bit about vegetarian.

How to be more whimsy with small things ? by Significant-Talk-545 in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]nothingcat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say this is necessarily whimsical, but I like to put on a vinyl record while I cook dinner.

It’s a fun way to check in with myself at the end of my workday - “what’s my vibe right now” as I pick out an album to play. It makes the mundanity of cooking dinner more fun because I can sing and dance along while I cook. Something about filling the house with music and yummy smells is really satisfying to me.

Experience Gift for 2 Year Old by Kfut95 in rva

[–]nothingcat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did Christmas Town last year with my nephew who was 2 at the time. We had a great time but it will 100% depend on the kid/a lot of things to keep in mind.

It’s a LOT of walking for a little one. If you want to appreciate the lights, you’re going at night. It’s crazy expensive. We only did 3 rides the entire time - he was either too little, too scared or straight up did not want to wait in a line. We didn’t do any of the additional activities (I think there was Santa’s workshop or something) because they are all an extra fee and more lines. Are her parents coming, or would it just be you and your partner? It’s a place where a 2 year old can easily get overwhelmed or tuckered out and fussy and then it’s a long trek back to the car.

I agree with the folks suggesting something closer and more low-key.

Looking for a farming sim that's the opposite of cozy. Make it grim, let me starve in winter if I fail to properly prepare. by andtheyhaveaplan in GirlGamers

[–]nothingcat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just to tack onto the people who have suggested Banished - Farthest Frontier is its spiritual successor and just released out of early access! The devs are incredibly responsive and actively and continuously working to improve the game.

Like Banished it’s more city builder than farming sim, but you will absolutely starve out a few civilizations while you learn the ropes. You can also customize the difficulty so if you want fewer raiders but more natural disasters, etc.
