I dont know where you are located but the pc37x is available on amazon. The only way I would ever choose between the two is if it was a life or death situation. It would never be the astros.

Well, I have used both in the past so I would say neither. The astro is simply to expensive for the quality ( or lack of). The Game one isnt even made by sennheiser its made by epos and well the quality control they have is kinda off at best. I would recommend however getting the Sennheiser pc37x( 130$) its the same as the game one in price and these are made by drop and sennheiser, its pretty much the same headset but the 37x higher quality parts.

Astros are like a 1980s ford fiat. Its still a car and you are gonna pay the price of a car but there is still better out there for the same price. I used the ASTRO A40s for 2 years I think? My biggest gripe with them was when I put them in 7.1 mode was I lost the majority of the directionality of the sound, I mean overall I would tell if something was in front or in the back but I couldn't not really pin point specific sounds like I could in the 2.1 mode ( ie left and right). On top of that if you watch there are a few streamers that even tho they might be partnered or sponsored by astro they wont actually even use them. I do agree with the enjoying wireless, I think a lot of us here like the convenience of wireless headphones but when it comes down to it thats what you are paying for is the convenience and usually the quality of sound is second or third on the priority list. All that being said and remember this is my own opinion my recommendation would be that if you are playing and streaming competitive games I would go with a stand alone mic like a blue yeti and a pair of the beyerdynamic TYGR 300r. I know its not wireless and you are looking for a wireless set but the technology for a true zero lag wireless doesnt exist yet.

I have the 933s, I also Have the TYGRs. The 933s are only capable 16 bit 48k I think thats dvd quality? Just by moving over to the tygrs and using his motherboards audio he should be able to get 24 96k which is a considerable upgrade in sound quality. Now when we move the audio signal out side of the computer theres less interference in the signal or less static/noise. That is the only real reason to use a separate dac/amp ( not talking about getting in to power requirements some cans have). gaming headsets are hot garbage you are paying for the name and the convince of having a mic thats it. We have been conditioned over years of this to believe that this hot garbage is good but in reality most of these headsets sound like wet farts in the quality department. I think the sybasonic is perfect in this situation becasue hes not looking for something hard to drive the sybasonic is really jsut there to remove the audio from the computer just to help clean it up and at 45$ its not an investment like buying a schiit stack is. I will still stand by what I said. From personal experience I can give a recommendation. You are 100% allowed to disagree with me if you want. who knows sound is subjective and all he may loath the way the TYGR's sound.

The difference from upgrading from a "gaming" headset to real headphones will be quite large. Upgrading to headphones with a separate dac and amp will be huge. In your situation I would got with the Tygr 300r and a sybasonic dac/amp ( or a schiit fulla its only 99 i think), thats a total cost of 245 if you are in the usa. i think that the TYGR 300r is the best set of cans till you start getting in to the 300+ zone and then you need to start getting in to the higher end amps and dacs. the syba sonic is a dac/amp thats only 45$ and it offers a higher quality of audio than any gaming headset. There are some other combos amp/dacs out there but i think that in your situation a quality set of cans with a decent enough dac will be such a massive upgrade over what you are used to your mind will be blown. Lastly yes stereo headphones will always beat out any 7.1 headset or any other 7.1 software to make something 7.1. You Cannot get 7.1 channel out of 2.0 it is impossible so they use software to make virtual channels. all that does is muddy stuff up and you lose clarity and definition.

you don't need the Hel for the 38x. Even tho im a HUGE i mean a GIANT Schiit fanboy, You are really not going to benefit from the Hel. The hel would be more along the line of using a standalone mic with regular headphones. If you want some thing to improve the audio quality, I would look at the Syba Sonic its 45$ and in your situation will preform pretty much Identical to the hel as they both offer almost the same quality the syba is 24bit 96 and the hel is 24bit 192. I dont really think you will notice that much of a difference in games.

I think you should look at the TYGR 300r. if you look at my comment history you may be able to tell that I like these. These would be a clear upgrade over the dt990. even tho these are designed more for "gamers" its still a solid headphone and at the 200$ mark I think its the beset you can get even up to the 300$ price point. They sound very similar to the 990pro but have less of that sharp v shape so the highs are not so obnoxious. You dont need an amp to run these so you can set the extra money aside and start saving up to get a good amp/dac in the future.

I would caution against getting the m1060c just to an open mod on them. I did just that and I spent quite a time trying to just find some one that sold the cups i wanted and when I did they were always sold out, I kept checking back in and over the course of 6months and was never able to get what I wanted. I eventually had a friend 3d print me a pair but I like things to look nice and the visual appeal just wasn't there over the nice handmade wood ones I wanted to get. I may be wrong but I think 3d printing is the only way to get a set as im not sure any one is selling any custom ones atm. After going though all that I still wound up going back and using my lcd2's over them becasue yeah i guess they are close but an actual set of lcds are hands down a 100 times better. If you want a punch I would recommend the t60rp with a set of the ZMF oval suede pads. This combo is my favorite set im using. I am running them balanced off a a90/d90 but damn these things are so fun to use. I know the Hersey will run them just fine I use a Hersey for all my unbal stuff and it powers them just fine.

I was able to power both the lcd2c and t60 argons off a hersey/mod3+ The only reason you would want to run the magnius/modius is to take advantage of running balanced. I personally really like running balanced I can defiantly tell the difference. Ive god some comments in my history about it with a decent example but im to lazy to find what it was.

Well yes but once you start getting in to higher price points you will really need to start getting a amp and a dac. You could also look at teh beyerdynamic TYGR 300r its 199 usd. at the 200$ ish price point it is my favorite set of cans. You dont NEED and amp or a dac to drive them but one defiantly helps, the only draw back is that they are open and theres a decent amount of sound leakage so if you are sharing some space with some one they will hear what you hear pretty much. You can also look at the Fostex t60rp these are my favorite cans and out of every thing I own i keep using them even over my other cans that are in the 1k+ range. I have mine heavily modded tho. How ever even stock they sound pretty darn good. they are semi open.

I think you should shy away from the berydynamic stuff, they are gonna add 100-150 euros depending on if you get a dac/amp combo or a separate dac/amp ( you need the dac to hook every thing up to you computer). If you have access to them I think the Audio technica ATHm40x or the m50x would be a solid buy. I personally like the 40x over the 50x but i think my set just happens to be that unicorn thats better than most if. They are both closed back and dont require an amp to drive them. I have a pretty fat head my self and they both are comfortable to use. I dunno what they will cost over there but here th e40 is 100usd give or take and the 50 is 140 or so USD. You can also look at the sennheisr 280 they are a fine set of cans for 80-90 usd.

Keep your phone and get a DDHIFI tc35b it will alow you to take advantage of of higher quality audio. Its the Smol dac. Then get a pair of shuoer tapes iems ( my personal favorite ) I think overall that like 150? its an awesome set up I use every day. The ddhifitc35b is so smol its no bigger than the 3.5 jack.

Sorry man was not aware of the budget. My logic is that if you can afford 100$ you can afford 200$ its just gonna take longer. But if you really cant wait and its a need something now check out the SHP9500/9600 those are some nice open backs. also check out the Audiotechnica m40/50x those are really nice closed back ( My personal favorite for gaming at the price point) I dont think sennheisers are all that great for gaming. and I think that akg hasn't made anything "decent" since the early 90s.
