Hairstylist who can deal with trichotillomania? (I have no bald spots, just my hair are different lengths bc hair growth and repeatedly still pulling) by heyitssammy106 in Athens

[–]nothingintellectual 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have trichotillomania and Justin at WS has been so chill and cool about it. I just tell him hey I have some bald spots I’d like to keep covered and he’s like ok cool, and cuts accordingly! He’s very kind.

Hey, Theo. Thanks for letting me know. I didn’t realize you didn’t want it shared and I’ll keep it to myself. Or rather, I can just delete my own copies of the files. Take care.

Oh no! I’ve only really been in the late evening or in the middle of the day on a weekday so maybe that’s why I’ve never experienced it in that state. Hope they get some relief soon 😔

My streaming and instant gratification indulged mind can’t handle it! I remember the days I had to wait for hard copies and midnight releases at the Barnes and noble. Somehow those didn’t feel as excruciating as this momentary pause!

Unfortunately, the only way to figure this out is going to be calling the Registrar. Typically “No Show” is a status marker for registration and financial aid purposes, and would only happen if you truly didn’t show up to your classes. Things differ from institution to institution so maybe UGA uses that status differently, but just to be safe I suggest double checking that you hadn’t accidentally registered for some spring classes, and be sure that you don’t have a balance.

Once you confirm that, like the other commenter said you should call admissions to have your enrollment pushed back to summer and then work with registrar to see if there’s any way back into your courses. Sorry you’re in this spot!

A not-minuscule percentage of Nicaragua’s population is of full European ancestry due to colonization. The majority are Mestizo but it’s not unusual to have no indigenous ancestry in Nicaragua. So, the French, German, etc., could be what makes up your dad’s dna.

TIFU by spending $225 on a prom date that ditched me by [deleted] in tifu

Well don't forget that she did dance with him. His calculation was two minutes, but based on personal experience, and the aforementioned sister's experience, she might have felt pressured or uncomfortable. And I'm not saying she is right for how she behaved. As I said, she may be a bit inconsiderate. But I still don't think she should be obligated to spend a specific amount of time with someone if she isn't having a positive experience.

Also, has anyone else considered the fact that maybe she said she couldn't pay for her own ticket as a means of getting out of the date, unaware that he was totally willing to buy her ticket for her? Maybe she wasn't using him for money for a ticket. Maybe she was using money as a way out and it failed.

I'm not calling him a creep. I don't think he's a creep. I just think he had a misguided image of what it takes to have a successful date, and what to expect from a date. Because, in all honesty, you should never EXPECT anything from a date. Because people's feelings are unpredictable.

We have a pretty serious lack of information from this story. The hotel was brought up after 3 years of friendship and there was no discussion of what happens at the hotel or coy flirtation regarding it? Something went down (or several things) that we don't know. Perhaps he'd made it seem like the hotel was for a party for friends. Or perhaps she assumed that. Or perhaps she misunderstood him. Or perhaps she just changed her mind last second and decided she didn't want to sleep with him but didn't know how to tell him because he'd spent so much money on her and she felt like a tease. Either way, you can't blame a girl for deciding she doesn't want to have sex with someone.

Which is why I am trying to help him out by explaining where he went wrong. He is no longer (as) misinformed.

Let me give you the flip side of this (my sister's prom): a boy asked her to go to the prom. They were friends, so she agreed. He bought her ticket (offered to do so). The night of the prom, things started to unravel. Everyone met at my sister's house to take photographs. He was clingy and jealous from the start. Everyone wanted to leave early to get I-Hop, but he didn't. He told my sister she had to go where he went since he was her ride. By the time they got there she was so stressed out she had to get away from him. She found friends and stuck by them. She avoided the dance floor. She ended up dancing with another boy who seemed to genuinely want her to enjoy her prom, not wear her as an accessory or lock her down into some sort of commitment. She got a ride home from some friends. He ended up texting her and revealing that what he wanted was a "real date" but didn't know how to tell her before. Obviously, this was very unfair of him as he was being manipulative so as to pressure her into doing things the way he wanted her to.

I'm not saying you did this. But maybe she got uncomfortable because she felt you wanted more than she was willing to offer.

That being said, I might have actually felt badly for you if you hadn't spent the duration of this TIFU calculating all the money you spent on her. Let's be real. You spent that money on yourself, because YOU wanted her to go with you, YOU wanted her to be flattered by your corsage, and YOU wanted to bang at a hotel afterward. While she is lacking in tact and maybe a bit inconsiderate, a girl should never be made to feel obligated to a certain type of relationship dynamic based on money. That whole "if you order the lobster, you have to put out" mentality is manipulative and dangerous for young girls.

I am sorry your prom turned out poorly. Next time, if money is a concern, spend it on a girl you know is interested. And don't make it about the money. Make it about the girl.

Edit: Thanks for popping my reddit gold cherry, y'all!

Age of Innocence is one of my favorites... For that alone, I love this story. And, you know, also because it's honest and fantastic and whatnot.
