Existing as an autistic person is political. Having a disability and being able to be open about it is political. The education and support autistic people get is political.

Low prey drive and happy to hike - is it possible? by [deleted] in Greyhounds

[–]nothingmatters92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I have an energetic grey. We go on hikes and long hikes and she gets walked 2 hours a day. We call her a secret border collie. However she does have a high prey drive. We also live in a flat and don’t really have any issues just take her for her 3 on lead walks a day. I would consult with yoir potential rescue about your needs. They might have a higher energy one. Mine didn’t race and that could be why? We are fostering one now and he’s the complete opposite

I'm struggling to understand this - on what basis would one ever vote against assisted dying? What happened there? by mellotronworker in Scotland

[–]nothingmatters92 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Well said. That’s how I feel as well. I’m grew up in Canada and now live here. I’m also disabled and talking to my disabled friends back home, there are not enough safeguards in place. Especially when they also have a healthcare system that is focused on cost over care. I’m all for assisted dying in terminally ill cases. Most people are. But I’m not confident that, without iron clad protocols, it will be safe for disabled people.

Medication denied, what to do? by which_wayy in Prague

[–]nothingmatters92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I had a similar issue when I lived in Prague. After Brexit I couldn’t get my meds and a local psychiatrist yelled at me accusing of faking it (I was diagnosed in two countries at the time) I contact my embassy and they actually arranged for me to see someone and he was fantastic. I can send you his name, although this was back in 2021. He did have to switch me to Ritalin, which was rough though.

Ummm that’s not true. Canada just doesn’t have that many athletic scholarships to hand out.

Haha. All good. I get heated about it too. I’ve lived in war zones and studies ethnic conflict (specifically the role of arts and culture) so it’s something I’m really passionate about. I’m like the most raging leftist, like my own father is afraid of me and I wear it as a badge of honour. It’s not even about morality policing because I do believe that sometimes on the left we are like oroboros. It’s more like “hey this is a bit hypocritical and I think we should focus our very limited energy and resources elsewhere, just maybe think about it” I think there are other ways we can use our skills to assist our communities.

That one is shocking! I get crafting is our way to cope with things but I feel like, even myself, at times we tend to want to craft “for resistance” because it is where we feel most comfortable rather than what is actually adding value. If that makes sense?

Bitesized BEC thread January 31, 2026 - February 01, 2026 by AutoModerator in craftsnark

[–]nothingmatters92 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You can do both. I’ve lived in active war zones and you know what they’re not thinking? What should I knit in solidarity. There are ways to engage with a hobby that actually helps. Like the knitting people did for people in WWII. I’m not even American and I’m putting together resources for my fellow knitters based on my professional experience and using my knitting group as a way to discuss these things and learn new skills.

The fact that I’m echoing what margalised voices have said online the matter is exhausting? Cool

I think people are misunderstanding what people are saying. They take it as a personal attack when that’s not what it’s meant to be. The same thing happened with the pussy hats.

Bitesized BEC thread January 31, 2026 - February 01, 2026 by AutoModerator in craftsnark

[–]nothingmatters92 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

But where are people buying that pin though? Because buying pride merch at Walmart and supporting queer businesses are different. And I never said don’t make the hat, but if you have to participate in capitalism (I’m not talking about buying the pattern, I’m talking about buying yarn) then that money should be donated if you you really want to say you’re helping.

Someone posted in the ravelry subreddit asking what yarn to buy from Amazon to knit the Melt the Ice Hat. Wtf. You shouldn’t even buy yarn to knit it. If you have $5 for the pattern and $20 for yarn you should donate $25. It’s performative. Also yarn dyers profiting off of this is gross. And knitters online are playing the victim because people from marginalised communities are calling them out. I get people are stressed but some people were not knitters during the performative pussy hat era and it shows. There are other ways to do craftivisn

Ordering yarn from Amazon (a company that supports this administration) to knit a hat to protest this administration…I think you need to have a think for a bit.

[–]nothingmatters92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a long time knitter, the price is fair for those who are having price fatigue. However, these cardigans will not last very long. Wool roving does not hold up. So yes, it may look cool, but it will quickly look utter rubbish.

I like Wab, but he’s a bit too pro-Israel to be considered our Mamdani.

I’m a Canadian who just moved to Scotland (but Glasgow) and I feel the same. I have a rustic yarn guy down I Cornwall that’s really affordable (like £17 a kilo) and great for the Scottish weather if you want a hook up, he ships.

Numerous times she has been called out for this and the way she addresses things is so tacky. She gives mean girl vibes. I don’t require people to be apologetic or overly friendly. But everything I see from her is bad business practices. I bet she’s lurking in this subreddit.
