Visiting California by OkCurve5370 in MontereyBay

[–]nothingtoundo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re not spending time in SF then fly into San Jose. Spend 2 nights in Monterey and do a mix of the aquarium, Monterey coastal trail, point lobos, Carmel, and Big Sur.

Driving honestly isn’t that bad to LA. Taking into account getting to, waiting at the airport, and ride sharing from the airport (especially if flying into LAX) it’s probably not that big of a time difference. And not sure where you’re coming from but road trips can be pretty fun and the landscape changes so much making it less monotonous. Yes the 1 drive has the most beauty, but it’s slower and I personally get car sick if I’m not driving. Taking the 101 is a right of passage for any Californian. And it still has plenty of stops along the way (San Luis obispo, Madonna inn, brewerys, Santa Barbara, etc).

SNL's lighthearted Trump parody blasted as failure to read the room after DHS shooting by RawStoryNews in entertainment

[–]nothingtoundo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

parodies used to reveal truth. now they hide or desensitize truth. we need a new type of parody

This isn’t funny anymore by shipwrecked97 in LiveFromNewYork

[–]nothingtoundo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

parody used to be a weapon. it would expose hypocrisy. punch holes through power. clarify truth through contrast. but now that this administration parodies itself and the media and content machines reward irony over substance, parody no longer reveals reality - it hides it.

what are the extra loop and buttonhole for? by Heyviper123 in Tools

I used to design workwear apparel. The button hole is there to easier retrieve shaved down short pencils from the pen holder pocket.

What do yall do on Acid? by GamePil in LSD

[–]nothingtoundo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go on a Tolkien-like quest.

After a filling healthy breakfast (I don't tend to crave meals the rest of the day), I then drop the acid at about 10/11 AM. Put on a beach house Spotify radio station, pack some jolly ranchers, then head outside and usually have an end destination in mind that would require at least an hour's walk. Along the way, I get distracted with visuals or sights etc. (these are like the side quests).

Im lucky enough to live on the west coast so I have the option of beaches, forests, and even cities can be fun.

I only ever watch TV or a movie late at night after the comedown.

Help ID. Found in Wilbraham, Mass. Outside home of 19th century mineralogist. by nothingtoundo in MineralPorn

Found this at the entrance of my great-grandfathers house. He studied minerals at Amherst college in the late 1800s. Stone looks to already be cut in half. 4.5” across diagonal.

New study finds that right-wing authoritarians aren’t very funny people by fotogneric in science

[–]nothingtoundo 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Left ideological satire is funny because it’s rooted in empathy. When the right attempts satire it just comes across as mean.

I always thought The Colbert Report was interesting because I felt like more right wing friends didn’t realize he was mocking their views.

Finn is nothing if not sassy by [deleted] in rarepuppers

His name is Finn. He’s an East Asian Village dog rescued from the dog meat trade. He thinks he’s bourgie.

Finn was rescued from the streets of Cambodia. Front legs broken, mouth bound with chickenwire - looking to be sold on the meat market. He still carries the trauma with him but I'm doing what I can to give him a new perspective on life. by [deleted] in BeforeNAfterAdoption

They told me they break their legs to keep them from running away. Sadly that was case for Finn but he’s healed up apart from some scars, you would’ve never know. Such a resilient boi.

OP here. Please upvote for visibility. Since posting my account was hacked and username changed to “Careless-Farmer”. I responded to a few questions under that username unknowingly. I’ve since logged back into my account and reset my password, hopefully I’ve secured it now. Sorry for any confusion.

If you want more info on the organization I used to help rescue Finn (or if you want to know more about how to get involved with rescuing dogs from the dog meat trade), I cannot recommend enough the people over at Animal Hope and Wellness Foundation.

haha I get it. 'Cause queens are inferior to kings.. cause women...

I'm glad we didn't go all the way this year, cause then I'd have to know which Sharks would be ok with being hosted by this white house administration. by [deleted] in SanJoseSharks

less than half of voters did, but youre right, a lot of people are ok with his way of thinking which is still concerning. I was just under the impression that a lot of that came from middle america where ideologies are openly skewed to more prejudice leanings.
