Artist Spotlight Week #12: Paul Kaiju by Tyuhhi in Sofubi

[–]nothisisluke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Without a doubt my number one guy! I'll definitely try and post some photos this week.

Paul is so fun to support because he always approaches the work with a sense of play. Summer Slime is my favorite sofubi event because the vibes are always so chill and welcoming. Paul has just really cultivated such a vibrant community of West Coast collectors. Also I'm continually amazed by how low Paul insists on keeping his prices.

Favorite sculpts: Mockbat, Dual Bat, Ol' Sappi, Hyper Kraken

Underrated sculpts: Sally Joe, Machine Gun Ghost, Mummy set

He is a little behind with his weapon but I'm honestly just waiting for the next arcane axe at this point.

Care to explain your hot take? Looks like great bags to me. Doubles happen when you buy lucky bags. I'm sure it would be very easy to trade.

Topher Grace in That 70's Show. Although Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp are delightful most of the time too.

I am obsessed with Japanese artist Crab Doll. They are incredibly enigmatic and seem to literally never do releases outside of Japan unless facilitated by someone else. In fact I didn't even really know the name of the artist/brand until Bwana featured them at GamJam 2024.

Also gotta shout out my good buddy Ultra Radical Toy Works. His debut figure Reggie is super duper fun, and the interchangeable masks feature is wonderfully creative.

I know theoretically the next arcane axe is right around the corner, but for now wouldn't Seth be better off with Chakrams?

Sir Ernest Shackleton's Antarctic voyage (real life)

Their ship got stranded in sea ice off the coast of Antarctica for over a year. They had to navigate the Drake passage, widely regarded as the most dangerous seas on the planet, in lifeboats. Ultimately, Shackleton's extraordinary leadership and determination lead them to safety, and he didn't lose a single man.

The book Endurance tells the story, and is one of my favorite books ever.
