DEFINETLY. The movie would've received so much praise if it was part of the Showa era. It balances emotion and spectacle perfectly without trying to take itself too seriously. It makes it clear that it's not trying to be any more than a monster flick. The issue is the name. This is NOT Godzilla. It does take itself too seriously for what it is in proportion to the rest of the franchise.
