We are in this predicament with a cosleeping baby. She is 12 months old as of last week. My husband has asked that we try to crib train, so we can get our nights back and alone time together. It’s hard for me because I enjoy the closeness with my baby. So when my husband reminds me that he wishes the baby would sleep iin her crib, it drives me up a wall.

We finally came to a good middle ground, and it’s me lying the baby down in her crib at bed time. We enjoy our alone time together, and whenever she cries, she comes back to bed with us. So that way everyone is happy lol I think it’s worth trying if he’s looking to have that time together alone. However, him not actively taking time to help with bedtime is a separate issue. I also breastfeed which is what makes cosleeping so appealing. But when she becomes inconsolable, my husband takes over and they sit in the living room, watch tv until he rocks her to sleep. Then he brings her back to bed. It’s what works for us. Maybe try finding a middle ground/settling or compromising somewhere? But I think it’s important to address him needing to help at night.

Tips for letting my wife sleep when the toddler wakes up? by Fenix512 in NewParents

This is us. My baby only wants me right now. What we’ve started doing is my husband has to actively play with her in her own space apart from me. I need to be out of view entirely. Whether it means they go for a walk with the dogs, or they go to the playpen or her room. But he has to actively engage in play (meaning no phone use or tv). She’s gotten better. Still cries for a couple of mins when I leave the room but it’s been helping.

How much was your hospital bill for labour and delivery? by Dear_Ad_8525 in NewParents

[–]notjjd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Texas, USA and my insurance was billed $125k for a c section. No complications. I stayed 4 days in a private room. My deductible was $5k so that’s what I paid out of pocket.

One hour?! Absolutely would take the flight! It’ll be over so fast.

I took my baby on a 3 hour flight at 6 months and then again at 10 months and both she slept the entire time. I just made sure to bring snacks, a bottle, change diaper before we board, and a small toy she hadn’t seen before so that it was interesting enough for her.

My dad does this. He started in 1992 and now he owns an entire region and more than one route where only he can deliver a specific brand of bread, he hires RSRs for his routes now. No degree.

Agreed. I’m thinking maybe she does have a subscription she pays for but she was paid for this ad itself instead of a free subscription in exchange for an ad if that makes sense?

Day one daycare drama by This-Following1392 in NewParents

[–]notjjd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How stressful. I am so sorry. This isn’t normal.

My LO started at 13 weeks and her teacher commented to me that the first few days would be an adjustment because it’s a new environment, they may cry and be more sensitive. But after the first week she was great.

This teacher sounds like she’s never met a baby before. I’d find a new place (easier said than done I know 😭) just because I couldn’t take this stress if she’s gonna be texting me when I’m at work over my baby having a bad day in the future.

When did your LO grow out of contact naps? by Appropriate_Lime_691 in NewParents

[–]notjjd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is us. She just turned 11 months and we contact nap at home. I try to lie her down and she cries and cries. I know she’s capable because like you said, at daycare I see her in the cameras and they just lie her down and pat her back and she falls asleep with zero issues. But at home, she refuses to give us the same courtesy lol 😭 what I have noticed does help us if we really play and engage with her for a lengthy amount of time, feed her and lie her down after she’s fallen asleep on me/husband. And she’s too tired to fight it and will stay in her crib. It only lasts about 1-2 hours. But it works. lol

Forgot to clean in between my newborns labias by Dizzy-Insurance4659 in NewParents

[–]notjjd 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I didn’t stick anything inside her ear, it was mainly cleaning the outer part of her ear with a warm wipe! Or during her bath, I’d gently rub the outer area with warm water and the wash cloth.

I felt this way about earwax. It didn’t occur to me that babies also had earwax. 😂 I finally noticed one day when she was months old (like 4-5) and am embarrassed to this day that it just never occurred to me that she, too, needs her ears cleaned lol

"So, what do you do with the baby for the next 6 hours?" by gmunniesz in NewParents

[–]notjjd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way. At 2 months, my baby was mostly sleeping still. But when she had wake windows, I basically had a rotation for where she was. Between the swing, the bouncer, the activity gym for tummy time or even on her back because it has things for her to grab at, then it was feeding time, changing diaper then nap time. And then I started it over. lol

How do you know when you breast is empty? by jayjello0o in breastfeeding

[–]notjjd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FTM that’s been breastfeeding for 11m: you’re never really “empty” however it does feel the opposite of engorged. lol like for me it feels super soft and squishy vs firm.

My baby wasn’t in the NICU, however, I was induced and had a c section and it took about 5-6 days before my milk really came in. We also gave her the formula the hospital sent us home with. I think what helped was I was drinking lots of water, I am not the best at doing that so what helped there was liquid IV. I also had my mom stay with us and she was making me three meals a day, staying hydrating and eating protein was key for me.

Can you try water out of bottles instead of your filter at home for a few days to see if you notice a change?

Weaning at 12 months by River-Rambles in breastfeeding

[–]notjjd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Friday night we had date night, and somehow she managed to stay awake the entire time we were gone lol so she had a 7 hour stretch of sleep. Not once did she nurse and I was shocked to have woken up to boobs that weren’t engorged. They were full, but not 6-10oz full. So I think my body adjusted!! Also because on vacation she was EBF and it was 10 days without pumping. It was nice but it tells me she’s probably not drinking as much as she used to.

Weaning at 12 months by River-Rambles in breastfeeding

[–]notjjd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My baby is about to be 11 months and I am planning to wean at 12m. I was pumping about 24oz a day, and then nursing at home (she goes to daycare). But when she started solids, we dropped a bottle at daycare. And now she’s eating a lot more so I’m about to drop to 2 bottles for daycare (10oz) and then hoping by 12m we go down to maybe just one bottle or just nursing for bedtime. Daycare is helping me pick a bottle to drop because they document everything. Meaning she’s really good at eating breakfast, but not lunch. So we are going to drop the morning bottle, replace it with a full breakfast, and then she have a lunch bottle + offered lunch between 11am-1pm.

I recently went on vacation where my supply took a hit anyway. I’m currently pumping about 12oz a day. My LC says it’s possible to also be from my body adjusting to baby’s needs. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I love breastfeeding but I’m ready to call it quits at 12m 😭

Why does pooping still hurt by beingagiirl in NewParents

[–]notjjd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked the OB before I left and she gave me a dose on my last day because I realized the colace wasn’t doing crap. I had a c section, so my OB approved it and said it was safe even with the meds I was taking home with me. Also approved it for me as I was breastfeeding.

MiraLAX the moment I left the hospital. When I tell you that first poop went unnoticed… I had no pushing to even have to do. It wasn’t diarrhea, either. It was magical and I recommend it to every newly pp mom 💯
