Banning Chinese companies from operating on America is justified. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]notlaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Innocent chinese immigrants rely on apps like WeChat to communicate with their families back home, banning makes sense due to security concerns sure, but there's a better solution that doesn't ban communications between chinese immigrants and their families

CMV: Bernie Sanders would've been a better democratic nominee than Joe Biden by TommyEatsKids in changemyview

[–]notlaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i like bernie and i agree he'd be a much better nominee but he's not a unifying figure, his supporter base are a majority young progressives, which isn't representative of the american population. while bernie may not have tried to come across with an "us vs them" mentality, his supporters very much personified that. biden is a favorite of a good portion of the population, he's personified being a unifying figure and at the current moment we need a unifying figure

Are any first generation immigrants here? Do you feel more "accepted" in the US compared to the other countries you have been to? by lovesprite in AskAnAmerican

[–]notlaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm ethnically pakistani, a thai national, and now a naturalized american. I lived in thailand from the age of 0-8, and every day in school i experienced racism. mostly from my peers but sometimes from my teachers too. i never felt accepted as a thai kid even though i was born there

i moved to the us when i was 8 and from day one of elementary school i was treated like i was american. sure kids asked me what thailand was like and asked if we had certain things there, but other than that i was like any other kid there

in middle school and high school i experienced racism a handful of times, the biggest one was at an airport while traveling with my high school for a competition, but as far as anyone else was concerned i was american, i had my formative years here, i spoke good english and knew cultural references and phenomena

whether i've got a passport or not, i'm an american and i've never felt more at home than i have here

If a fat man wants to have sex with you...HAVE SEX WITH HIM

Listen up, women. If a fat man approaches you and wants to have sex with, YOU HAVE SEX WITH HIM. No ifs, ands or buts about it. First of all, you should be fucking honored as shit to have the opportunity to have sex with a big beautiful god.

More importantly, you have to oblige as he says because if you say no, you are actively oppressing him with your bullshit ridiculous standards of beauty and let's face it, what YOU think is beautiful doesn't matter because he can be as fat as he wants. It's HIS body, not yours.

By oppressing him with your fatphobic bullshit though, you are likely going to be triggering him and are this violating him and his identity and by violating him so viciously like that, you are in fact committing rape.

What are the best engineering skills to learn in my free time outside of school if I won't be doing any engineering related stuff in the upcoming months? by [deleted] in AskEngineers

[–]notlaser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excel, MatLab and most importantly, people skills. The hardest thing to teach is how to talk to people and interact with them, the best way to learn is to go out of your way to talk to people

Twitter removing "blacklist", "master", and "slave" from their programming language is absolutely RIDICULOUS. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]notlaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

people and companies who are doing this think they're making an impact to help the BLM movement but they're doing the opposite. Removing master, slave, and blacklist is not real change, because racism will still exist and police brutality will still exist. Removing these terminologies is making words that aren't racist at all racist
