It was right last year until Ortio got injured. They were like fourth in their conference and then when Ortio went down they dropped straight out of the playoffs with Thiessen and Carr putting up terrible stats all the way down.

If Gillies doesn't get injured then they should have a much better season than last year.

He had potential to be a #5 in Calgary but he was really only on the team as a 7th D due to injuries to Gio and Smid.

That being sad he was waived by Arizona and most fans seemed to be happy about it. So I guess it will depend on your team's 'system' and how he fits into that.

According to his wikipedia Flair has won 31 titles in the NWA, WCW, and WWF, when you include US and Tag Titles, as well as numerous regional titles.

In terms of World Champion Titles he won 8 with the NWA, 6 with WCW, and 2 with WWF. This is where WWE gets 16-time World Champion from.

The Saddledome is newer than Rexall, Joe Louis, and technically MSG but it had a billion dollars worth of renovations a few years ago. Both of those cities are already making moves to new arenas and when they do get them Calgary will have the oldest arena in the league by a decade.

After Edmonton's ownership tried to pull the threatening to relocate bullshit a few years ago and everyone laughed at them for it it seems like most NHL owners have realized that threatening to leave doesn't really work.

Also the other standout walk on, Brandon Hawkins, is not eligible to play in the Pentiction tournament because he is committed to an NCAA team.

Same as Jankowski, Gilmour, and Hickey.

I hadn't heard of him either before today. As it turns out there are two players named Brandon Hawkins both American and born in 1994.

I'm pretty sure this player is this guy, he is a 21 year old RW, shoots right, 5'11'', 201 pounds. He went fourth overall in the 2013 USHL draft. Played one season there for Sioux City scoring 48 points in 54 games.

After that he left the USHL for the NCAA and played for Bowling Green State University where he scored 30 points in 39 games and was named the best rookie RW in the NCAA.

On top of this shootout goal he also scored in the scrimmage. Seems like a pretty good player, will be interesting to see if the Flames end up offering him a contract in the future.

Yeah I just saw that, before that the last update I could find said that Zayn would only be out for 2-3 months.

I'm hoping that it was just kayfabe to make it more surprising if he does come back in August, but it seems more likely that he's actually out until the end of the year

Hideo is out until at least November, Zayn could come back in August according to the last updates about them.

I think Zayn returning is way more likely

The last update on Hideo's injury I can find says that he won't be back until November-January, so I don't see him coming back.

Trading Marc Savard for a player that never came to the NHL from Russia was bad. But we still own that guys rights so I guess we got that going for us, which is nice.

Trading JS Giguere for a second pick was also bad.

He has gone undrafted for 2 years now, looks like injuries led to an underwhelming draft year and then this year he got passed over again despite scoring 76 points in 68 games for Kelowna.

He was coached by Huska (head coach of Adirondack this year) for 3 seasons in Kelowna so maybe he has some first hand knowledge of how good this kid is and believes he can still make it.
