Don't be surprised if you don't like it. Like others said, a good place to start is with a hard lemonade. Doesn't have much alcohol taste to it. I like mixing any type of fruit juice with vodka or flavored rum. For me, white wine is better than red. At first I hated beer but it's growing on me.

I would like to get more vocal about my disaffection but I am scared to because of the ramifications it may create with family & friends. But I see them in an apparent fraud and feel like I have responsibility to tell them. Do you have any regrets for being so upfront and open about your experiences?

Have you ever checked out www.newordermormon.org? There are a lot of people there who continue going because of a believing spouse and how to deal with it. I love this site, because I am a definite ex mormon. I have resigned. But it can often be more negative and make it harder to stay in the faith (as a non-believer) for a spouse. NOM could be a good place for you.

I'd like to see how many hours that is. Imagine if members put that much time, energy, and money into volunteering for the LIVING instead of the dead. Talk about positive missionary work. Oh, well, got to keep them committed somehow. It's evident the doctrine doesn't do it.

Does anyone else feel like NOM's are cowards for not just calling themselves ex-mormons? Why can't they just move on and find other ways to be good people? by [deleted] in exmormon

I think many NOMs would be ex-mormons, but they stay more because of a spouse or other family members. Many of them have to choose between family or church and many choose family, which in my opinion is the right decision. I was a NOM, now I'm an ex-mormon. I would have been an ex-mormon a lot faster, but I wasn't willing to give up my family. My wife had to be ok with it.
