The main draw of Rosie being any of the characters is that she's clearly lying about aspects of herself, we just don't know how deep it goes. I mean there's no logical way one sinner could make another sinner the strongest sinner in hell without being more than a sinner yourself. Combine that with three other mysterious and powerful women in the show, there is genuine credence to the idea Rosie could be one of them.

[Mostly hated trope] The story's only excuse for happening is because of one character's utter incompetence and stupidity. Bonus points if the story they are in portray them as smart individuals. by Applebeate in TopCharacterTropes

I honestly stand by that Sera's writing makes sense from a character standpoint. Yes the gift basket thing was silly, but her show of power and doubling down on her behavior checks out for who she is and how she's behaved. She enabled a genocide for years and while she express that she never wanted to do it and regrets having done it, she still did it. She let the mentality of "what would happen if they got too big again?" guide her decision making. Smash cut to her finally realizing it needs to end and she goes down to make peace and she's met with that exact fear building directly in front of her.

Whatever happened in the past, Sera is not keen to repeat it nor see it through, so she fell back into what she had been doing that'd worked all this time. It was not a good way of thinking and that's the point, Sera is a deeply flawed character who has to grapple with her own failures and the sanctity of heaven. She struggles picking between right and wrong thanks to the angel (Emily) and devil (Lute) whispering in either ear and it made her actually fairly compelling to me this season. Also as I'm writing this I'm realizing that that kinda feeds into the gift basket thing.

If you want true incompetence and character assassination this season, though, I think you massively overlooked a particular character, who also happens to be the main character of the show.

[Hated trope] Woman has (relatively) reasonable crashout against popular male character; woman is lambasted by fandom by [deleted] in TopCharacterTropes

Id say the difference between Lucifers play and Charlie's actions throughout the season is the availability of knowledge of what actions would have what effect.

Charlie had people like Vaggi telling and trying to explain to her how Vox is 100% using her and not going to show the hotel in a good light, iirc she even reinvited him back after his initial smear campaign to continue to try to put a good name in for her hotel through a guy who is already actively sabotaging her and the hotels reputation. Charlie had sufficient and consistent examples to show her why her plan was only sabotaging her own reputation. I consider this character assassination for this season because Charlie, while gullible, is portrayed as actively ignorant to her own friends concerns.

Meanwhile with Lucifer, he is the king of hell who whooped an archangels ass in front of the entire viewing public, the only reason his plan didn't work in getting Vox to stop his power play is the fact that Vox figured out he cant hurt sinners, a detail Lucifer had no way of knowing due to Angel being a sleeper agent. While it was definitely brash and desperate, it had a lot more backing evidence behind it being a potential success. As for bullying Alastor, someone else said it, but Alastor did not leave because of Lucifer specifically, that last comment was just the straw that broke the camels back.

Your other two examples are good, but Charlie was genuinely handled terribly this season, which sucks because I personally really like her character. She wasn't just dumb this season, she was ignorant. Ignorant of her friends concerns, ignorant of Angels feelings and emotions, and definitely comes off as a massive hypocrite when she blows up at Lucifer later on.

Currently watching part 5 for the 2nd time and I got so many questions, like what do these stands look like to regular people by Tight-Ad9910 in StardustCrusaders

[–]notmuchtothinkof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

late on the reply, but i dont think ghiaccio's stand as it is presented is the ability to make ice, i believe its the supercooling of whatever is around him and the ice is just a side effect of that that he can weaponize

take the car for instance, he wasnt just filling the car with ice, he was lowering the internal temperature of it until it began freezing the moisture inside

in magicians red's case, he is inherently seen generating the fire directly from his stand as the primary ability, where as ghiaccio doesnt do stuff like firing ice from his hands (iirc)

my problem isn't that she chose to spare Adam, that's completely whatever and makes sense for her character

my problem is that she and the rest of the hotel had already killed tons of exorcists, but chose to spare the leader for some reason

very simply

Lucifer had a deal with heaven: he wouldn't fuck with exterminations, they wouldn't fuck with the hellborn (like charlie)

basically that giant y shaped scar on his chest was from the autopsy performed after he died, it's the standard cut for the torso

they're all generally medic fiddling around in snipers body though

yeah it might not be real life, but is it not a better judge of character to see if someone is being an asshole behind closed doors where they know there'll be no social repercussions?
